尊敬的老师、亲爱的同学们：

大家好!

转瞬间，已是在水电十四局待的第三个年头了。回想起来，感触良多。十四局是我结束学生时代，步入社会的第一站，也是我人生的重要启承点，是十四局见证了我成长。

怀着梦想与期待步入了员工培训大楼，接下来是为期一周的入职培训。第一批招收了800多名大学生，看着这么多的领导和同事，我想，今后的工作环境将是怎样的呢?

入职培训过后，我被分在角木塘项目部综合办公室，我的师父就是项目部的副书记，他是我职业生涯的导师，更是可敬可亲的大哥，教会了我许多工作方法和技能，为人处世的哲学，是不可多得的良师益友。这是十四局最亮丽的地方，每个新分的大学生都会指定一个师父专人专带，签订师带徒协议，帮助他们顺利适应工作岗位，帮助青年职工找到目标、实现社会价值，激励青年更好地将理论知识、个人能力与岗位工作和企业发展结合到一起，让个人成长与企业发展同步，融入到社会发展的浪潮中。

有人说，青春像是一次旅行，只有认真领味了沿途的风景，才会舒展身心、积蓄能量。我认为，青春更像是一场突如其来的暴风雨，还来不及躲闪，已经被淋湿。我们在雨中哭泣、欢笑、奔跑，因为我们正青春，我们在成长。参加工作不到半年，就发生了一件让我记忆深刻的事情：那是一个驾驶员，因为出差补助费的问题与我发生争吵。按项目部管理制度规定出差人员，只报销与公务相关的差旅费，而该员工不仅报销差旅费，还要申请长途行车补助。我对他的要求不以为然，也不给他办理手续。最后是弄得大家都不愉快，领导出面才得以解决。事后我也反省了自己，自己的工作方式确实存在问题，讲话太过直接，没有充分考虑到老员工的心理感受。于是我明白了，说话办事要讲方法，在讲究规则的同时要灵活办事。这便是我在十四局遭遇的第一个挫折，也是工作中遇到的第一个难题，但是，谁的青春不是苦涩的，只有经历过青春的洗礼，才会让自己变得更加强大。每当回想起这件事，我都觉得受益良多，我无悔自己的选择。

让我感到最快乐的，是项目部组织的组织的各种文体活动，自己既是组织者又是参与者，活动中感受到了青春的活力和工会对员工的关爱。每到节假日，项目部总会变着花样组织各种文体活动，什么篮球比赛啊，趣味答题啊，烧烤晚会啊，都是我的最爱。平日工作的烦闷情绪都在活动中都烟消云散，留下的是青春的汗水和难以忘怀的记忆。

奋斗点亮青春，让青春之路充满奋进的注脚，青春的底色永远是奋斗!要知道，“春天的道路依然充满泥泞，没有谁的青春是容易的”。只有在年轻的时候奋斗过、拼搏过、奉献过，才能在以后回忆的时候，自信地道一句：“青春无悔”。随着工作年限的增长和个人能力的不断提高，现在的我，已经是一个部门副职了，觉得一切的努力和奋斗都是值得的。面对工作的压力、竞争的焦虑、成功的渴望、人生的迷茫，站在青春十字路口，很庆幸自己选择了坚持，选择了扎根十四局，用自己的行动证明自己。人生的道路还很长，但青春的脚步不会停歇，只有不断的充实自己、提高自己，才能跟得上时代的步伐，主宰自己的人生。

感恩青春，感谢成长中遇到的人和事，是你们教会了我成长，让青春绽放出绚丽的色彩，让我的青年时代充满意义。我将不忘初心、奋力前行，以更加饱满的姿态，做一个无悔于青春，无愧于这个伟大时代的青年人!

大家好!

没有奋斗的人生是枯燥的，就像受了潮的火柴，任你怎样摩擦都燃不了幸福的星火。通往幸福的的道路，步步荆棘，处处障碍，每一步都要付出努力。

20世纪最伟大的作家霍金，他那勇于挑战的精神，令人不得不敬佩。但他的一生并不是一路顺风，而是困难重重。精神上的磨难，肢体上的剧痛，给他的生活带来了不便，然而却丝毫未磨灭他对生活的乐观。历经千辛万苦的他，终于赢得了掌声与鲜花。没有坚实的意志支撑霍金去奋斗，要想取得成功无疑是痴人说梦。

曾有段时间，我对现实感到迷茫，也对未来感到迷茫，甚至对过去的自己都感到无奈。无声的沉默与沉重的压抑，令我度日如年。临近深夜的我站在窗边，静静聆听夜的美好，慢慢思索我未来的方向。张嘉佳曾在书中说道：“过自己想要的生活，上帝会让你付出代价，但最后这个完整的自己，就是上帝还给你的利息。但在这期间你须拿出你全部精力，努力拼搏，开扩出一条全新的道路。”

我顿时明白了此刻自己奋斗的目标，不再迷惘。我打开了布满灰尘的书本，认认真真的读了起来。尽管如今我奋斗的太少，但我相信只要我朝着这个方向继续努力，继续坚持奋斗。总有一天，它将成为我永远骄傲的回忆，正所谓“风雨之后，总会见彩虹。”

奋斗是生活的本质，是希望。如果人生没有奋斗，生活将变得惨淡无味。慢慢的一步一步来，希望在努力之后就一定会实现，让我们朝着梦想进一步奋斗吧!

大家早上好！我是初三十班的赖郁蔻。今天我演讲的题目是：奋斗的青春年华，最美丽！

光阴荏苒，白驹过隙间，我们逐渐走过的人生中最懵懂天真的时代。驻足时光的缝隙，蓦然回首，想到我们即将迎来人生中最美丽的年华，难免会在翘首以待之际挂上几分担忧与彷徨，我们，究竟该以怎样的心态来面对如歌的青春年华？同学们，请相信，在极速发展的社会中，在优胜劣汰，适者生存的现实里，青春年华是我们拼搏的唯一资历，而如今“恰同学少年，风华正茂”的我们，更应当在奋斗里体会刻苦的乐趣，在拼搏中诠释青春年华的意义！

现任阿里巴巴集团董事长主席，前中国首富—马云曾在踌躇满志的年纪经历过三次高考失败，两次创业失败，在而立之年才顺利成立了他的第一个互联网商业项目。在历经各类坎坷挫折后，马云拨开青春年华路上的荆棘，一步一个脚印地踏实而坚定地奋进，最终获得了属于他的胜利，正如他所感慨的，“这世界上没有优秀的理念，只有脚踏实地的结果。”这何尝不是对理应奋斗的青春年华最正确的理解呢？

然而现在有些同学谈到读书，谈到吃苦，犹如谈虎色变，避之唯恐不及。他们或许能举出一两个没上大学却在社会上享尽风光的人的例子，便以此为放纵的借口，挥霍青春年华。一些漫无学习目标的女孩围坐在一起追韩剧，刷微信，号称所谓的姐妹，以为拥有了姐妹便有了全世界；一群没有理想抱负的男生聚在一起打游戏，看玄幻，认为兄弟在身旁即是拥有了天下，认为这就是青春年华该有的模样，轻松，愉快,洒脱,疯狂！在这里，我又要引用大企业家马云的一句话来请同学们反思一下，“当你不去拼一份奖学金，不去过没试过的生活，整天挂着QQ，刷着微博，逛着淘宝，玩着网游，干着我80岁都能做的事，你要青春年华干嘛？”同学们，不奋斗，不吃苦，想要洒脱轻松的青春年华固然可以，但几年的放纵，换来的就可能就是一生的卑微和底层！我们何必在最能吃苦的年纪选择安逸，自恃年少，却韶华倾负，殊不知青春年华易逝，再无少年之时！

六一儿童节就要来了，在此，我想告诉初一的学弟学妹们，请尽情享受你们欢乐童年的最后时光吧！趁无忧岁月的余温还未褪去，让你们内心的梦想萌芽，准备迎接你们的青春年华年华！祝你们能与身边的小伙伴们度过一个开心愉悦而与众不同的六一！与我同龄的初二年级的各位兄弟姐妹们，也许刚刚步入青春年华的我们会迷茫，但是梦想一如既往！我们作为云附学子，更应当秉持着刻苦奋争的态度去面对未来。学业水平考试的号角已经吹响，请同学们务必积极准备，勇敢地去迎战即将到来的小三科考试，并取得优异的成绩。初三的学姐学长们，加油奋斗吧！在学业水平考试来临之际，你们将展现云附最令人骄傲的风采，你们荣光踏入云附，定能翘楚迈出校门！在最后一个月不到的时间里，放手一搏吧！

大家下午好!

一花一季，在那个只属于自己的季节，开放出炫丽的花朵，在那个花样年华里，奋斗吧!燃烧吧!属于自己的青春。

一天过得很快，不知不觉，天渐渐的黑了，街上的路灯一个又一个接连着亮了起来，照亮了漆黑的夜，车站聚集着迫切等车回家的人，时不时向路的尽头张望着，我，也是其中的一个人。

跟随着熙熙攘攘的'人群坐上了一辆公交车，拥挤的车厢仿佛要将我窒息，步履蹒跚踉踉跄跄地下了车回到家中，整个身体上的每个细胞都在叫嚣着疲惫，好似有一张床在我面前我就会立刻倒下。

打起精神写一天的作业，不知不觉中眼皮越来越沉，竟趴在了桌上睡去，心中想着睡一会儿，就一会儿。脑海中浮现出一个画面：你在睡觉时别人还在奋斗，还在努力，这又怎能安心?最后的结局又岂不令人痛心?现在不努力，又怎能对得起不服输的自己?

一遍又一遍，不停萦绕在我的耳旁，让我不敢有一丝懈怠，打起精神目不转睛的认真学习。

每朵花的开放，都要经过破土的挣扎，卖力的生长，经受住时间、阳光和雨水的磨砺，在最显眼的地方开出最美丽的花。

花儿尚要如此，我又岂敢怠慢，一粒种子不破土生长永远开不了花，青春年少不奋斗燃烧一次就虚诞了光阴。

大家晚上好!

我叫__，很高兴今天可以站在这里和大家一起讨论青春这个话题，下面我为大家演讲的题目是《拼搏，让青春无悔》。

青春是人生一道洒满阳光的风景，是一首用热情和智慧唱响的赞歌。

人世间有许多东西失去了还可以得到，惟有青春一去不复返，所谓“人生易老”，所谓“如白驹之过隙”，所谓“高堂明镜悲白发，朝如青丝暮成雪”，说的就是它。

青春也是一种感觉，这种感觉，有时是平平淡淡中的一种温馨的享受，有时是一份静静的逍遥，有时是一份思念的遐想，有时是一个甜甜的无边无际的憧憬。于是，诗情画意的梦，天真纯洁的幻想，无忧无虑的日子，便汇集成一个灿烂的青春季节。

也许平淡无奇的世界使你感到孤寂和落寞，周而复始的生活节拍让你倍感烦躁和无聊。但蓦然之间，你发现在天蓝风轻的春光中，一切都像是透明的，而感到一种超然的力量在心底滋生;也许你为时光的悄然流逝而感到无助与无奈，可当你沉浸于茫茫书海，真实而丰富地度过青春的每一分钟，你就会觉得青春原来是那般美好!

我非常欣赏《烈火青春》里面的这段话：让青春烈火燃烧永恒，让生命闪电划过天边，用所有热情换回时间，让年轻的梦没有终点!我认为，青春就应该燃烧，发出亮光才能体现生命的价值。

时光飞奔向前，不会回头，它总是青春的痕迹。我们大家虽出生于不同的时间和空间，却有着同样的奉献承诺，有着同样的壮美青春。拥有青春，就如同朝阳永远向上;拥有青春，就如同山溪不羁奔流;拥有青春，就如同幼蚕破茧而出……

曾子曰：“士不可以不弘毅，任重而道远。”作为青年人，一个国家、一个民族的希望所在，心中无不闪烁着梦想，那么现在就是我们努力实现梦想的时候。纵使艰难险阻，也要努力前行;追求卓越，释放青春能量，点燃青春梦想。

年轻的朋友，让我们高举爱国旗帜，继承前人开创的事业，在改革开放的强国富民之路上高歌猛进;让我们的青春之火，在二十一世纪的挑战中闪光;让我们的拳拳爱国之心，在共创祖国辉煌的征程中闪耀夺目的光彩;让我们用拼搏向梦想靠近，实现梦想让青春无悔!

We Are The World ,We Are The Future

Someone said "we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a

book, whose pages are infinite". I don’t know who wrote these words, but I’ve

always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to

be. We are all in the position of the farmers. If we plant a good seed ,we reap

a good harvest. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

We are young. "How to spend the youth?" It is a meaningful question. To

answer it, first I have to ask "what do you understand by the word youth?" Youth

is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. It’s not a matter of rosy cheeks,

red lips or supple knees. It’s the matter of the will. It’s the freshness of the

deep spring of life.

A poet said "To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild

flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. Several

days ago, I had a chance to listen to a lecture. I learnt a lot there. I’d like

to share it with all of you. Let’s show our right palms. We can see three lines

that show how our love.career and life is. I have a short line of life. What

about yours? I wondered whether we could see our future in this way. Well, let’s

make a fist. Where is our future? Where is our love, career, and life? Tell

me.Yeah, it is in our hands. It is held in ourselves.

We all want the future to be better than the past. But the future can go

better itself. Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened. From the

past, we’ve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher. We’ve learnt that

we can’t choose how we feel, but we can choose what about it. Failure doesn’t

mean you don’t have it, it does mean you should do it in a different way.

Failure doesn’t mean you should give up, it does mean you must try harder.

As what I said at the beginning, "we are reading the first verse of the

first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite". The past has gone. Nothing

we do will change it. But the future is in front of us. Believe that what we

give to the world, the world will give to us. And from today on, let’s be the

owners of ourselves, and speak out "We are the world, we are the future."

世界是我们的，未来是我们的

一些人说"我们正在读一本无穷的书中的第一章的第一节。"我不知道谁写了这些话，但是我一直很喜欢它，因为它提醒了我，我们能够创造我们想要的未来。

我们都是农夫。如果我们播下好的种子，我们将会丰收。如果我们的种子很差，有很多草籽，收割的将是无用的庄稼。如果我们什么也不播种，什么收获也没有。

我们是年轻的。"怎样度过青春?"这是个有意义的问题。为了去回答它，我首先要问"从‘青春’这个词中你能理解到什么?"

青春不是人生的一个时期，而是精神的一种状态。青春不是桃面、丹唇、柔膝，而是深沉的意志，.青春是生命的深泉在涌流。

一位诗人说"从一粒沙看世界，从一朵花看天堂，把无限放在你的手掌，永恒在一刹那里收藏".几天前，我有了一个听讲座的机会，从中我学到了很多东西。现在，我想把这些与大家共享。让我们伸出右手，我们可以看到手掌中的展示我们的爱，事业和生活的三条线。我在生活方面这条线很短，那你们的呢?我想知道我们是否可以用这种办法去看我们的未来。好的，让我们一起握拳。我们的未来在哪儿?我们的爱、事业和生活在哪儿?告诉我!是的，它们就在我们的手中。它们被我们自己掌握着。

我们所有人都希望未来能比过去更美好，但是未来能自己变得更好。不要因为结束而哭泣，微笑吧，为你的曾经拥有。从过去来看，生活是艰苦的，但我们是更坚强。我们知道我们不能选择感觉，但是我们能选择和它相关的东西。失败并不意味着你不拥有成功，它只意味着你应该用另一种方式去做这件事。失败并不意味着你应该放弃，只意味着你应该更加努力。

正如我在前面所说的"我们正在读一本无穷的书中的第一章的第一节。"过去的已经过去，无论我们无力改变，但是未来却在我们前方。相信"我们给了世界什么，世界也将给我们".并且从今天起，让我们一起做我们自己的主人，一起大声说出"世界是我们的，未来是我们的。"

今天我给大家演讲的题目是——感悟心灵的成长：奋斗的青春最美丽。

火山喷发过，熔岩才会定格为坚硬的岩石;流星飞驰过，天空才会闪耀着美丽的弧线;人生奋斗过，生命才会烙下坚实的脚印。

青春过于美好，于是我们尽情享乐，尽情挥霍。但生命也过于短暂，当我们老去的时候，回头翻看着时光，我们将发现，年轻没有留下脚印。于是，一股失落涌上心头，因为我们的生命之书缺少了完整的书页，我们无能为力，光阴的沉淀使我们不再年轻。朋友，难道我们不应该为自己年轻的书页留下些什么吗?哪怕只是浅浅的脚印?

事实上，我们可能尝试着为目标奋斗过。眼前的路，那样虚幻，那样黯淡。我们奋力前行，去触摸周围一切能带给我们现实与光明的东西，结果被撞得头破血流，摔得粉身碎骨。因为吝惜青春，所以，我们有时候会停止奋斗的脚步。于是，刚刚踏出的脚印又被我们磨平。

今天，当我再一次站到镜子前，发现自己，额头上的道道又变多了，眼睛里不再有儿童时代的那种纯真。我感到，我的青春已经逝去。脑海中又浮现那句话：“几乎没有人能感觉到青春正在逝去，而几乎所有人都能感觉到青春已经逝去。”

也许，我们还不明白自己该干什么，也许，我们以为明天会更好，也许我们相信会出现奇迹。于是，我们选择无谓的等待。可是，我们的青春，却没有时间等待那一天的到来，因为我们的青春只剩下今天。莎士比亚说过：”在时间的大钟上，只有两个字—现在。“

我们没有太多的时间可以等待。"不屑今天，等待明天，"的观望态度，会像一条肆无忌惮的蛀虫一样，吞噬我们的心灵，吞噬我们头脑中的时间紧迫感，蛀空我们谋求上进的灵魂。最终留给我们一具空洞而毫无战斗力的躯壳。

生命的主流，应该是水不停歇的奋斗而不是等待。人活在这世上，只是一种形式，奋斗才是对它唯一的注解，因为生命无法承受之轻，因为生命无法接受堕落，因为生命无法容忍平庸。人生短暂，白驹过隙，拥有生命是一种最大的幸运，带着奋斗上路，才会让生命闪耀光彩!

所以，还在犹豫徘徊的同学，请迈开你的脚步，往前走吧!不用去管是否会成功。既然选择了远方，便只顾风雨兼程。放手去追求吧!有句话说得好："人的生命是在他停止追求的那一刻结束的。"不要吝惜自己的青春与生命，因为它的价值恰恰是在不断地为理想奋斗中体现出来的。

也许那些在落叶上写诗的心情会渐渐老去，也许成长要以孤独作为代价，逝去的日子无非给我们一个把握今天的启示。其实，又有谁能够对美好的日子—完整的人生下一个固定的概念呢?外部原因固然重要，但自身的拼搏才起决定作用。更多的时候，我们必须由自己去擦拭旅途中心灵的尘埃，用自己的问候驱散跋涉的疲顿。在人生旅途中，我们必须用奋斗去奠基自己的人生大厦，把握自己生命的价值，演绎出自己人生的辉煌。奋斗应该在不甘寂寞中周而复始，只有这样，你的生命之旅才会留下清晰的脚印。

纵然，前面的路会无比坎坷，可是，我们有理由相信自己能够战胜一切挫折，不是因为我们比别人伟大，而是因为我们比别人年轻。年轻，是我们最大的资本!奋斗，是我们永恒的追求!

人生要奋斗。纵观古今中外的伟人，不都是付出了一番努力之后，才取得一番成就吗?在众多伟人的一生中，有的经受过流浪饥饿的岁月;有的遭遇过飞来横祸的摧残;也由于的承受着失败煎熬和冷嘲热讽。但是他们都凭着顽强的毅力和不屑的努力，成为了一个个、出类拔萃发人。他们中间，有的创造了史无前例的奇迹!伟人们的丰功伟绩，和他们的坚持不懈的奋斗是离不开的。有奋斗才会有成功!

人要奋斗。在奋斗精神面前，死神、苦难都失去了它们的“威力”。没有什么困难和逆境能够阻挡奋斗者前进!因为，成功的信念永远在他们心中闪现着，攀登人生高峰的目标永远激励着他们不懈努力，不懈奋斗!

人生要奋斗。在奋斗的大路上踏尽崎岖又契而不舍的人必将能达到成功的彼岸。奋斗的旗帜只有在困苦中才能升起来，只有经过奋斗，昨天的梦想才可能成为今天的现实。

人生要奋斗，朋友们，让我们架起奋斗的桥梁，共同奔向成功的彼岸。让我们张开奋斗的翅膀，共同飞向灿烂的明天!

Good morning ladies and gentlmen,It is my great pleasure to stand here to

present my speech—— As you slowly open your eyes, look around, notice where the

light comes into your room;

listen carefully, see if there are new sounds you can recognize;

feel with your body and spirit, and see if you can sense the freshness in

corner of your being! You know all this is real as long as you are confident,

are committed! You will no longer fear making new sounds, showing new facial

expressions, using your body in new ways, approaching new people, and asking new

questions. You will live every single day of your life with absolute passion,

and you will show your passion through the words you speak and the actions you

take. You will focus all your time and effort on the most important goals of

your life. You will never succumb(屈服,屈从) to challenges of hardships. You will

never waver(动摇) in your pursuit of excellence. After all, you are the best, and

you deserve the best! As your coach and friend, I can assure you the door to all

the best things in the world will open to you, but the key to that door is in

your hand. You must do your part. You must faithfully follow the plans you make

and take the actions you plan;

you must never quit and you must never fear. I know you must do it, you can

do it, you will do it, and you will succeed! Now stand firm and tall, make a

前段时间我看了一则新闻：一位女孩因一场交通事故导致她盆骨以下全部截肢，但她用篮球套在身体下面，用双手拄着“木手垫”走路，因此她被人们称为篮球女孩。尽管她遇到了如此不幸的灾难，但她依然乐观积极地生活下去。在20_年8月，她加入了青少年游永俱乐部，开始学习游泳，经过不懈努力，最后成功夺得全国残疾人游泳锦标赛的金牌。

One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we have come here today to dramatize an appalling condition.

In a sense we have come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men would be guaranteed the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check which has come back marked "insufficient funds." But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check -- a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of God's children. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment and to underestimate the determination of the Negro. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. Those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive.

Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.

I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith with which I return to the South. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."

And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!

Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous peaks of California!

But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia!

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!

Let freedom ring from every hill and every molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
