I am applying for admission to the Ph.D. program in Electrical and ComputerEngineering， at the University of California， Berkeley. I present my researchexperience and study objectives in this statement of purpose. I would like tobuild on my solid education and experience as an engineer for a Ph. But fortunately， my father had a well-diversified portfolio because ofwhich our returns were protected from the downside risk. This was when I learntthe second principle of finance from my father i.e. diversification reducesrisk. While I understood these two principles intuitively， it produced in me astrong urge to learn and understand the complex theory behind the working ofFinance. This， I believe， was a turning point in my career. I made up my mind topursue a career in Finance and hence decided to do a Masters program in BusinessAdministration.

As I was finishing college， my mother had both of her hips replaced withartificial ones because all of the cartilage in her hip joints had worn away andit was very painful for her to walk. I found it fascinating that engineers，orthopedic surgeons， and biologists had all worked together to design theseartificial joints that completely transform. peoples lives by giving them backpain-free mobility， and I knew at that moment that this was an area about whichI wanted to learn more. In China these days， university graduates who have notbeen lucky enough to settle into their dream jobs often look to graduatedstudies as a way to kill the time that they cannot otherwise spend meaningfully.I am prepared to go against the social conventions by putting on hold asuccessful research career that promised to be even more successful. With eightyears of productive and highly valued practical research behind me， I now wouldlike to revert to a more intellectual life so that I can conduct moretheoretical discourses.

1、对申请人有较深入了解

所谓的有较深入的了解，是指推荐人一定要跟申请人有学术上，或工作实习方面的较长时间的接触和联系。所以，推荐人一般是任课老师，实验室老师，比赛指导老师，或工作实习上司等等。假如一个人是某个公司的老总，但是他跟你之前没有任何学术上或工作实习方面的接触和联系，那么他不是一个合适的推荐人选。

2、推荐人的身份要合理

推荐信的份量直接关系到能否出国留学，能否获得奖学金等，作为对外联系的材料，是其中一份较为重要的文件。

推荐信的目的是通过国内专家向对方介绍申请人的工作、学习和专业方向等情况。在出国申请是否成的诸多要素中，有力的推荐信是录取的重要条件之一，其份量仅次于于本科成绩单和标准化考试（gre、gmat、toefl）成绩。多数学校都要求申请人提交两封到三封的推荐信，由教授、系主任或工作主管直接寄给指定的单位。

1、被推荐人的基本情况介绍。侧重于个人的毕业时间、学校、所获学位以及个人的专业经历。

2、推荐人对被推荐人的基本评价。侧重于被推荐人的专业基础、个性、特点、工作态度和在学术上的前途估计。若是推荐研究生，推荐人还需进一步说明其深造学习的基础和当前所具备的研究能力。显然，恰如其分地评价被推荐人的基础、能力和前途，比言过其实的赞誉更令人信服，更具有实际意义。

3、推荐人可以着重介绍被推荐人曾经获得的奖励，发表过的论文，参加过的重要学术会议，以及曾在学生组织或学术团体中的任职等来支持自己的评价。

4、推荐人还必须清楚地表明被推荐人留学的身份是研究生还是访问学者，专业领域和研究方向是什么。

5、如果大学提供了现成的推荐表格，则必须按这类表格认真逐项填写。推荐表格中一般有学生综合评估的一项，即要求推荐人说明该生在所教的学生中应列为前5%，10%或25%等。这种评估是指教授的个人评价，可以稍高一点。另外，推荐表格上常有许多难以填写的项目，遇到这种情形可填“i don’t know”，亦不致对该生的评价有何严重影响。

⑴学习成绩应详细说明你的成绩的内容和质量、每年所修的课程和所取得的成绩。

⑵在可能的情况下，应注明学校的评分标准和你在班级中的排名。

5. 提交申请

在西方的信用社会中，推荐信在mba申请人的材料里起着独特的作用。做为第三方提供的信息，推荐信可以描述申请人在别人（如：上司，老师，同事，合作伙伴）眼里的印象，也能更准确地反映申请人的行为举止对别人的影响。比如：申请人可能在个人声明中宣称自己善于细节管理，但合作伙伴的推荐信有可能会把”拘泥于细节，大方向感不强”讲为申请人的一个弱点。最后，推荐信往往能用做某些客观考试成绩较差的申请人的”救命稻草。” 比如：一个本科gpa比较低的申请人，如果上司的推荐信中讲到此人在工作中善于从失误中汲取教训，迎头赶上，那么申请评审人可能会推断申请人较低的本科gpa不应成为应对mba学习的障碍。

有些申请人也许不会有理想的推荐人群;例：你在工作中出头露面的机会不多，或申请是偷偷摸摸的不想让现在的老板知道，或担心现在或过去的老板会在推荐信中散布对自己不好的信息，或是离开最后一个职位已太长，或你和现在或过去的教授没有太多接触。那么你的应对策略应该是什么？以下是几个考虑的要点：

1、选了解你的人：也许你公司的总经理是很有名的人物，但如果他/她对你不熟，你还不如请你的`直接上级来写—即便他/她没有显赫的头衔。了解你的推荐人应该能举出一些可信的而生动的例子来说明申请人的管理潜力，智力水准，或个人性格。

2、选真正喜欢你的人：一个真正喜欢你的推荐人会花足够的时间写一封认真的推荐信；而一个不是真正喜欢你的推荐人也许会敷衍了事地写一封不痛不痒的推荐信。另一个选真正喜欢你的人做推荐人的原因是他们会举对你有利的例子，把一件事往好里写，或强调一件事的正面意义，但一个不是真正喜欢你的推荐人也许会把脑袋里首先想到的与你相关的（也许不是对你最有利的）写进去。

I have always had a love for the performing arts since I can remember; for there has never really been anything else I have ever wanted to do apart from act. But acting is not just a subject to study people, narratives or social issues – we can discover so many things about ourselves, why we perform a character this way: is it because this person is so much like us? There have been numerous qualities I have discovered about myself while participating in drama. In teaching, I have learn how to really connect with people and help them to explorer what their feelings produce and more notably, how we learn about others, about a single person just by the way they say a monologue

Teaching has been a great experience for me because it has given me the time to evaluate my own performance and teaching skill, learning to become that character just a little but more. This has also been enhanced by the performances I have taken part in, learning to work together in teams to realise the dream of the narration and the vision of the director (for nothing really exists without the vision or image)

While experiencing other aspects of the Performing Arts, I have found that is has increased my performance skill on whole and expended my knowledge on the performance world greatly, Dance, Art and English all focusing on similar issues such as the Commedia dell’arte, Henrik Ibsen, Physical Theatre and Movements and philosophies. These subjects have greatly complemented my time in Drama, and increased my confidence and ability in being a performer. Being involved in 5 consecutive school productions, 2 amateur productions, teaching experience and a student has really influence me concerning the determination I will put into a career in Drama and Acting, and just working with these people and directors have really bettered me in the way I act, see myself and carry on with my life. The Performing Arts is such a brilliant profession to work in, because there is so much opportunity to explore the world

I know that I can offer the performing arts the time, the expense and the spark that it deserves. There is nothing else in world that I would devote more time to than being on the stage or acting in the street, and with the passion and determination to succeed behind me, I will give that spark and flavour that acting and the performing arts is all about. I know I can offer so much, because it is the only profession where, maybe just for one night, I can become someone else and do a damn good job of being that person – and I can easily say that I can offer the world, because performance and acting is my whole world. “The Foolish Old Man Removing a Mountain” is an allegory known to virtuallyevery Chinese. The story tells that in ancient times there was an old foolishman by the name of Yu Gong who was determined to remove the WangWu Mountain, amountain that blocked him and his family from having access to the outsideworld, in an attempt to carve out a road leading to the outside world and hencecreate conditions for his posterity to achieve economic prosperity. The projectwas a Herculean task and, to make the matter worse, the old man was ratheradvanced in age. His neighbors all came to dissuade him from the endeavor. Butthe old man’s answer was that if he should die, his children and grandchildrencould succeed him. The day would come when the mountain could be removedultimately.

Inconceivable as they are, modern versions of this allegory occur in thefrequently impoverished mountain areas in present-day China. The mountain folksresort to primitive manual labor (hence inevitably involving casualties) andsimple tools and usually spend many years, even more than a decade, to open uproutes inch by inch in order to have access to the market outside the deepmountains to sell their farm produce, so that their descendants will no longerbe confined to the kind of isolated and economically unprivileged life that theyare living. As a student with a Master’s degree in Road & RailwayEngineering, I can never maintain a tranquil state of mind whenever I read ofstories of this kind. I tell myself that I have the obligation andresponsibility to help halt this dire reality. For this reason, I am determinedto seek a Ph. D. program in Communication & Transportation at your esteemeduniversity, a program that will enable me to reward my country with my knowledgeof the advanced transportation engineering technology in the world. My choice for Industrial and Civil Airport Construction and Highway AirportConstruction and Highway during my undergraduate program at the Department ofCivil Engineering and Architecture, x University, seemed to have derived frommy family tradition. My father has long been a construction engineer and myinterest in civil engineering grew as I saw my father working on constructionplans and drawings and picking up bits and pieces of civil engineeringknowledge. My academic performance at x University, which is a key universityin the country, has been consistently characterized by top ranking, receivingStudent of Excellence award for four consecutive years. My solid andcomprehensive academic foundation and outstanding performance came to theattention of the renowned airport construction expert Prof. xX, under whosedirection I undertook my graduation project Design of an Airport Runway. In thisproject, I completed the overall design of a civil airport together with theairport’s roadnet. The thesis offered in-depth analysis of theeffective voidage of the asphalt pavement and the pavement thickness as majorfactors in reducing the noise production. 1、寄宿家庭

起初是针对未成年学生设置的监护形式的住宿方式，到现在已经发展成了一种比较常见的住宿选择，全年龄段的学生都可以提交自己的住宿申请，可以通过学校，也可以通过机构。

家庭会为学生提供住宿的居所，还会有餐饮服务可以选择，或者大家可以申请使用厨房自己做，如果能够友好相处的话，还有机会参与到家庭的聚会和社交中去，对大家的适应是很有利的。

不过也会有一定的烦恼，因为作为外来者，留学生只能够适应家庭的内部规则，这时候一定要积极地进行沟通和交流，确认自己的意见能够直接传达，会更友好的相处。

2、学校宿舍

宿舍会是新生的首选，大家申请也是会优先权的，基本上只要在收到offer确认之后，就可以进行正式的申请，而且成功通过的可能性是非常高的，大家可以顺利入住。

宿舍一般是双人和多人间，有的需要共享卧室，有的会有单独卧室，但是一般都需要共用卫浴，在能够搞好关系的同时也失去了一定的隐私权，不过总体上看好处还是比较多的。

3、校外租房

由于住校和租房相比，在费用上并没有很大的优势，甚至可能会更贵，所以大部分学生度过了新生期之后，就会选择搬出去住，区别在于单独租房还是和别人一起合租。

找房源一定要要从靠谱的平台获取，学校和朋友介绍就很不错，而且大家还可以去专业的租房中介获取有效的信息，花钱就能够找到比较合适的房子，当然大家也可以考虑合租。

租房的优势，就是会有个人比较隐私的空间，即便是和别人进行合租，也会有自己的卧室，而且厨房是租房的标配，大家可以自己做饭还可以省钱。

学习成绩

成绩优秀的学生不管是在国内还是国外终究会成为幸运儿，因此如果你的学习成绩足够优秀，平均分在85分以上，那么你就可以申请日本排名很好的大学。

一、日语等级

在日本考大学院，对于中国留学生，尤其是文科生来说，日语等级至关重要。因为将来不仅要跟老师一起进行学术研究，还要写报告和硕士论文，如果日语不达标，可想而知，竞争力就弱了一大截。因此日语一定要达标。

三、申请文书

申请文书是教授与你的首次见面，可以说你的首次印象就要靠文书来传达了，因此里面内容含金量的轻重大家应该知晓，如何书写，格式、内容、设计等等，简历、推荐信等一样都不能少，如果实在不知如何下手，大家可以寻求留学机构或者留学中介的老师帮忙。

四、英语能力

虽然是在日本留学，但是光学好日语还不够，日本很多大学院的导师还是很重视英语的使用的。不仅上课会用到英语资料，有的导师甚至用英语资料进行专业研究，这就要求留学生也需具备相应的英语能力。一般来说，托福成绩在80分以上，最好85分以上，才有底气去挑战东大、京大这样的名校。理工科尤其如此。

留学费用：

语言学校一年的学费为65万日元~70万日元不等。而第一年会包括报名费、入学金等支出，所以第一年的费用在70~80万日元之间。当然有一部分的语言学校，也可以先交纳半年学费。

学生住宿通常需要提前缴纳半年的住宿费，通常为半年1.5~2万人民币左右。有些学校可以三个月一次交纳住宿费用，大阪地区可以按照每个月3万日元~5万日元(1人间~3人间不等)的宿舍费用计算。

对于学生的生活费用建议赴日学生最好携带40~60万左右的日元。在日本的伙食费用还是比较高的。如果自己做饭的成本就非常低了，一顿饭控制在200日元~350日元之间是没有问题的。所以正常来说在日本，学生每个月的伙食费在2万日元~3万日元左右。

申请日本研究生留学应该做好哪些准备

一、日语等级

二、导师的选择

在大学院要进行的是专门领域的学术研究。首先，研究课题的选定要和导师有极大的重合性，这样才会获得导师的重视，然后就是研究计划书的写作了。研究计划书必须跟导师说明具体之后要研究什么，研究什么课题，研究的目的是为了什么等等。研究计划书需要独创性，千万不能抄袭。不然会影响导师对你的评价!

缩短工作年限，由甲方决定。

第十三条甲方在认为必要时，有权决定将本协议书的副本经由我驻外使、领馆提交乙方留学所在国的有关部门或个人。

第十四条甲方违反本协议书时，乙方有权向甲方的上级主管部门提出申诉，要求甲方的上级主管部门责成甲方执行本协议书，赔偿损失等。

必要时，乙方可向中国的司法机关起诉，追究甲方的法律责任。

乙方违反本协议书时，甲方将根据乙方违约情况，对乙方批评教育，或给予行政处分，或停止公费待遇，或停薪留职，或要求乙方赔偿损失;必要时，甲方可将乙方违约的事实通知乙方留学所在国的有关部门或个人，或向司法机关起诉，追究乙方的法律责任。

今天我们就着重讲解一下第一点。将这句话细分一下，对于未满足12年教育的同学们，也就是初中以及在读高中生来说，可以赴日读高中，前提是参加入学考试（日语、数学、英语）。

对于满足12年教育的同学们，也就是高中（职高、技校、中专）毕业生来说，日语水平在n3以下的，可以去日本读语言学校，在日本参加留考及院校考试面试通过之后升入大学读本科；日语水平达到n2的可以申请日本的专门学校，有两年制的也有四年制的，不过因为存在回国之后的学历认证问题，选择的学生还是比较少的。

对于满足15年（大专）的同学们，日语水平在n2以下的还是需要去日本读语言学校，日语水平达标后再进行之后的学习；那么日语水平在n2及以上同学们，原则上就可以直接申请日本的大学院啦。有同学在这里肯定会有疑问，咦，为什么是原则上呢？我们解释一下哈，专升硕在日本是行得通的，但是大专要求是三年全日制统招，同时还需要考虑到专业匹配度的问题，要求大专学生一定要有的优势，咱们这边才好跟教授联系并且突出你的优势，具体情况就需要具体分析了。

对于满足16年（本科）教育的同学们，日语水平在n2以下，一样的，还是需要去日本读语言学校，日语水平达标后再进行之后的学习；对于日语水平达到n2及n1的同学们，申请大学院。再者就是对于文科和商科想读修士的同学们，最好有n1的成绩，理科同学的要求可降到n2，具体还要看你所申请的专业情况，有托福等英语成绩可以作为加分项哦。

在这里还要提醒一下同学们，如果自己确定要去日本留学的话一定要尽早申请啊，想去日本读高中的至少要提前7个月申请，并确认学校是否还有名额。读语言学校的要提前6-7个月申请，虽然现在还不到9月，日本1/3的语言学校20xx年4月份已经招满了好嘛~~而对于我们想要申请大学院的同学们来说，提前12-14个月是必须哒，因为你不仅要确定专业、学校、教授，准备研究计划书，还需要和选定的教授“周旋”套词......咱们这里很多学生都是大三已经开始准备了，当你的同学们还在为毕业设计焦头烂额的时候，提前准备的你都已经拿到内诺甚至是学校的录取通知啦~
