I was seven years old when I saw the ocean for the first time. My
grandmother had invited me to visit her near Okinawa, Japan. I will never forget
that encounter—the intense sun, the endless horizon, the infinite shades of blue
that dissolved any boundary between sky and waves. And most of all, the secret
of the water. Swimming in those waters was like diving into a kaleidoscope,
deceptively plain on the outside, but a show of colors on the inside, waiting to
dazzle me, mesmerize me. Those colors! Coral reefs—pink, green, red,
purple—covered the seafloor; streaks of sunlight illuminated them, the swaying
water creating a dance of hues. And weaving in and out of the contours of coral
swam brilliant fish that synchronized every movement with the water, creating
one body, one living entity. I longed to join and flow with them to the music of
the waves; that’s where I felt I belonged. And leaving was like parting home,
not going home.
Five years later, I returned. At first, all seemed to match my memory: the
crystalline waters and that open horizon with the sun daring to come closer to
Earth. But the second I dove in, I knew my home had vanished…white. That’s all I
could see around me: bone-white death. I couldn’t accept it. I kept swimming
farther out, hoping to catch even the smallest hint of color. But there was no
sign of that brilliant garden I remembered, just fragments of bleached coral. It
was like looking down onto the aftermath of a war: a bombed city, with only the
crumbles of cement to testify for the great buildings that once stood. But who
was the culprit behind this egregious attack?
Though at the age of twelve, I couldn’t even begin to guess, I now know the
answer is us. Humans are an impressive species: we have traveled to every
continent, adapted to countless environments, and innovated to create
comfortable means of living. But in the process, we have stolen the colors from
nature all around the globe, just as we did that coral reef. Our trail of white
has penetrated the forests, the oceans, the grasslands, and spread like a wild
disease. I, too, have left a white footprint, so I have a responsibility to
right these wrongs, to repaint those colors, and to preserve the ones that
remain. Some question why I should care. The answer is simple: this planet is my
home, my birthplace. And that, in and of itself, is an inseparable bond and a
timeless connection. Nature has allowed me my life, so I have no right to deny
its life. As Jane Goodall once said, “If we kill off the wild, then we are
killing a part of our souls.” This is my soul—our soul. I know that I alone
cannot protect this soul, so I will not make a promise that I cannot fulfill.
But this promise I will make: I will do what I can do.
yours Sincerely

(Bank Statement)
申请艺术类学生需提交作品集;
如实习经验与所申请专业相关,需提交实习证明;

I am a student, graduatedfromBaoYang middle school, Nanning, GuangXiautonomous region, in 20__. I am still studying in high school now, because I wasnot enrolled by the ideal university last year. Recently, I have a dream tostudy abroad. Then I search online and find that it is more convenient andsuitable for me to go to New Zealand for study.
First, New Zealand is a multicultural country, which has the most advancededucation in the world. Second, the tuition is lower than other countries’,which I think is mo

2.商科部分专业需要gmat/gre, gmat 成绩必须由考试中心直接提供给 unimelb;
gre 只需 verbal 和quantitative 两项相加满 315 即可;

Dear _,
"The aim of Medicine is not to know the disease, but to relieve the
suffering it causes." This quotation from Miguel Angel Garcia sums up why
Medicine is my career choice. A close relative of mine fought cancer for two
years. I was much younger then, and did not understand why the doctors only
wanted to "make her comfortable", but now I do; and that is partly why I want to
become a physician myself: not only to work on cures for various diseases but
also to make ill people feel better, because, though I admire research, I first
and foremost see myself as a practising physician. Also, I have been fascinated
with babies and pregnant women ever since a child, so fascinated in fact that
for two years running I insisted every morning on my mother telling me the story
of my birth. From an early age on, then, this interest has led me gain a fair
amount of knowledge on the human body and how it works.
I joined the Scouts when I was six years old, and continued with them for
five years. During that time, I received a First-Aid badge and was nominated
"Guide" of my group, which meant that I had to lead the way during orientation
tests and hikes. These made me develop leadership, communication and
organisational skills that I have used and valued ever since. More recently, I
tried to volunteer at a local hospital, but the Portuguese NHS only accepts
helpers over 18 years old. Instead, therefore, I volunteered at the Lisbon Zoo
every weekend from December 2007 through April 2008. This experience has taught
me to deal with unexpected situations, because visitors were directed to me
whenever they had a question and because I met new people every week, as the
volunteer body was constantly changing. I will take a First-Aid course with the
Portuguese Red Cross from October 13th till 18th, and I have been accepted for a
week of volunteering in the Health Centre of Sao Roque, in the island of Pico,
Azores, during the month of April 2009 under the supervision of Dr. Merces
Maciel.
Physical welfare is very important for me, and sports play a big role in my
life. I have practised swimming for 12 years and, over the course of time, I
have practised other sports, such as Taekwondo and Yoga, that taught me to relax
in stressful times and environments. I feel that such knowledge can be very
helpful during University Exams time and while coping with the busy life of a
Medical student. In school, I have always been an excellent student, with an
interest not only in science-related disciplines, but also in Literature,
Philosophy and languages. I have always liked reading books, such as The Man Who
Mistook his Wife for a Hat and other Clinical Tales by Oliver Sacks or
Metamorphosis by Kafka, that introduced me to the intricacies of the mind, with
which I am fascinated this year in my Psychology course. In Philosophy, I have a
deep interest in Ethics, a theme I believe to be very close to Medicine. Next to
Portuguese, I can speak and write English and French and can handle Spanish
quite tolerably. I will sit the TOEFL on November 22nd.
A trait of my personality which I think differentiates me from other
applicants is my creativity. I am a very creative and artistic person; I write
poetry and make short movies. Creativity is, in my opinion, a very important
characteristic of a good physician, as it is a help during investigation
processes and in difficult diagnosis situations. In the future, I would like to
specialise in Obstetrics, Paediatrics or Internal Medicine. I have made the
decision of studying in the UK because I believe that British universities rate
among the finest in the world and because I want to learn from the top-people in
the fast changing field of Medicine. If I am given this opportunity, I am sure
that it will be a wonderful experience that I will savour and cherish for the
rest of my life, and that will make all the difference when it comes to
advancing my career plans.
Yours sincerely,

Dear _,
The study of mathematical sciences has intrigued me for many years. The
decision to study A levels in both Maths and Physics stemmed from a high
interest level and strong aptitude in both subject areas. This was reflected in
the AS grades I received in June 2002; achieving an A grade in mathematics which
has inspired me further in my pursuit of the subject.
My interest has spread to computers and trying to link the two together has
played a big part of my life in the last few years. I have taught myself, using
books and other available sources, how to program in HTML and this has made it
possible for me to take an active role in web design.
My other academic interests include Business Studies, especially management
and finance areas which link with sections of the maths course. My choice to
include a humanities subject at A level was partly encouraged by my need to
analyse and evaluate situations, Business Studies gives me the chance to do this
in great detail and I find it therapeutic to get involved in relevant
case studies. I am also taking an A level in General Studies which is
increasing my knowledge of political and cultural issues. The subject also
encourages group discussions concerning current affairs and provides me with the
opportunity to input my opinions.
For the last few years I have been a member of a Duke of Edinburgh scheme
running locally within the college. In June 2001 I completed the Bronze Award
and am now working towards my Gold. This has given me a lot of experience in
teamwork, problem solving and maintaining a high level of responsibility. These
qualities have been taken on into a successful work experience placement in year
10 and my part time job as a sales/management assistant at respectable retail
outlet Marks and Spencer.
I have enjoyed my time in the Sixth Form and have taken pleasure from both
the academic and extra-curricular activities. I feel that I possess the
qualities required to continue maths on to a higher level and combine it with
modules that both interest me now and in areas which I hope to build on whilst
at university. I am confident that this enthusiasm will combine with my strong
determination and motivation, enabling me to succeed in the challenges that
university presents.
Yours sincerely,

Dear __ university teachers and leaders:
Hello! First of all, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule toreview my application materials!
I am from the science experimental class of __ City Senior Middle School.Like other compatriots or competitors, I also hope to realize my dream ofenrolling in the university through the independent enrollment of yourschool.
Among the many colleges and universities, only x university has attracted medeeply, and I also heard x seniors say that x is very suitable for those who"have ideas", as long as you have ideas, x will do everything possible to helpyou realize it , I think I am the kind of person who has ideas and a sense ofinnovation. This also strengthens my determination to "study in the future".With more than ten years of hard work, my grades have always been among thebest, and the high school entrance exam is the 28th grade in the city's key highschool science experimental class. When I arrived in high school, I was notproud, but I studied harder, and my grades increased further. Every time I had atest score, I would not be in the top ten of the grade. When I did well, I wouldbe in the top five. I firmly believe that I have Eligibility to enter xuniversity.
I believe that you have read countless self-recommendation letters beforethis, and you are not surprised by the provincial and municipal students, thechairman of the student union, and the secretary of the Youth League branch. It's a pity that I don't have any of these dazzling honors and positions. I havea comprehensive understanding of x, some have a consistent love and yearning forx, and some have the courage and determination to "not go". More importantly, Ihave the quality of being honest and acting within my capacity. I will notemphasize facts and bluff in order to get your favor, and I think that aperson’s leadership, organization, communication and coordination skills are notonly dependent on These positions can be reflected. After all, there is only onechairman of the school student union, but there are far more high schoolstudents with abilities in many places.
Resoluteness and good planning are my other strengths. Speaking of planning,I have also made a preliminary plan for my future: in recent years, with thetake-off of China's economy, automobiles have entered ordinary people's homes.Because of the improvement of the automobile industry, the demand for elites inthis place is also increasing. This is undoubtedly a huge incentive for me, whohas loved cars since I was a child and can recognize dozens of car logos at theage of 7. I am also encouraged to enter an auto company in the future andintervene in the design and manufacture of a car with excellent performance andsafety and energy saving. As far as I know, there is still room for improvementin the fuel-saving, durable and non-chaotic performance of Chinese cars today. With the increase in oil prices, turbocharged direct injection and othertechnologies have also stepped out of the altar and entered passenger use.field. In the body structure, people's pursuit of safety and tranquility isendless, so there is a collision energy absorption design, a better suspension, and the application of aluminum and even carbon fiber. I would like to devoteall my energy to these fields so that Chinese cars can one day be displayed onthe world stage. All these seemingly illusory dreams are likely to becomereality once they enter x.
Sincerely
salute!

Dear _,
I have always enjoyed studying Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and I would like the opportunity to continue this study. Chemical Engineering appeals to me because of the challenges involved in the application of scientific theory to practical, real world problems such as how to deal with nuclear waste. I particularly look forward to studying fluid dynamics as I was introduced to this during the Engineering Education Scheme (EES). I am aware that in today’s world chemical engineering has an increasingly important role across a wide range of industries from pharmaceuticals to petrochemicals. The broad range of career paths, and the opportunity to contribute to society through technological innovation, is for me, one of the main attractions of chemical engineering.
I have applied to take part in the Year In Industry scheme during which I hope to gain practical experience, as well as greater maturity enabling me to go into my degree course with improved skills and broader experience. I also hope to study e-learning courses on project management and presentation skills run by the IChemE. In Year 12 I took part in the EES, which improved my understanding and skills in team working, time management, and report writing, as well as visual and oral presentation. Throughout the course of the project the team had to frequently correspond with mentors in industry and academia and this experience has broadened my appreciation of practice and application in a real life situation. In July I attended a week-long ‘Into Engineering’ seminar run by REACT Engineering. Working in two teams, we were given a design exercise based upon a typical decommissioning project. I also attended a Headstart course at Newcastle University, which I thoroughly enjoyed. One of the main activities was to design, manufacture and test a small crane. I found both of these experiences very challenging, as we were given only limited time so we had to prioritise our tasks and carefully plan our work. This year a fellow student and I were awarded £500 by the European Scholarship Prize to fund a visit to Prague to do research for our A-level History coursework. I gained an understanding of the city’s culture and history and further developed my independence. During the summer I represented my school on a Connexions review of a government white paper on 14-19 education. I gained an insight into the government’s proposals and learned a lot about working with different groups of people. Last year I was part of the editorial team for the school magazine. I wrote a number of articles and I was responsible for ensuring that staff contributions were ready for the deadline. I also enjoy participating in a range of sports and have represented the school at football and cricket, which has further enhanced my team working skills. In my spare time I am working towards my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. In September I completed a 4-day expedition in the Lake District, which tested my endurance but gave me a great sense of achievement. As part of the award I have been helping at the local youth café once a week, which I am really enjoying as it gives me the chance to meet new people. I also enjoy reading, particularly books on physics and Russian history. I am really interested in computers and I am currently trying to configure a Linux based file and print server for my home network.
For admission to a university in England you have to fill in a form from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). They for a very reasonable fee provide all applicants to unversities and colleges in the UK with a way to apply to up to 6 universities (or multiple courses at, say 3 universities). Part of the form (apart from all the obvious details such as name and address), is half a page where you are asked to write about yourself, your interests and so on. Inevitably you have to make it sound as good as possible, as you're trying to sell yourself to the universities you're applying to...I applied to the universities of Aston, Bath, Bristol, Cambridge, Imperial College London, and Loughborough. All for an MEng (Master of Engineering degree) in Chemical Engineering, except for Bristol where I went for an MEng in Computer Science, so this is tailored towards those courses. Anyway... Here it is. I don't guarantee that you won't get bored! ;-). (NB this was written in the summer of 1999, and is therefore not too current!).Reasons for Course Choice
Since beginning secondary school, I've been very interested in Chemistry and Computing. Besides my normal schoolwork I've read around these two subjects. Because I am also very keen on Mathematics and Physics, I want to pursue a degree course that combines all or most of these. Both of my parents are Science/Engineering graduates and they have taught me some of the qualities needed for a degree course in this field. This has encouraged me to find out about the opportunities available. Aims
I have applied to several firms for sponsorship while at university and during a gap year, with the intention of getting Engineering-related work experience. This would give me valuable experience for the course at university. I hope to obtain a Master of Engineering degree and become employed in research and development in the oil or food industry. Eventually, I would like to do postgraduate study, and perhaps even teach Chemistry/Engineering. Interests
I play basketball, tennis, volleyball, and I like kayaking. By far my biggest sports interest, however, is orienteering. I've won several trophies for Andalusian and league championships, and I've helped to organise regional orienteering events. I have also designed the database system for my club. My greatest interest outside school is computing. I have done a large amount of web design. I help maintain the computer systems at my father's workplace; and I also do some part time work teaching people on a one-to-one basis how to use their computers. I like writing manuals or "notes" on things related to computers, and have published an article on web design in a small US computer magazine. I have written papers on the use of data-logging and other equipment for my school's science department. This year, I was responsible for laying out my school's entire yearbook using DTP software. Recently, I was employed developing a web site and training staff for an organisation in London. When I have time I play the keyboard, and also do some sound engineering: I used to operate the mixing desk at my local church, as well as help at my parents' workplace, which is a professional recording studio. I enjoy teaching and have given weekly tuition in Maths and English. General Points
I've lived in Spain for 14 years and am fluent in Spanish. In addition, my parents work with North Africans, Middle Easterners, Americans, Spaniards, Britons, and people of other nationalities. I have gained valuable experience growing up with many different cultures around me, and as a result appreciate the difficulties of cross-cultural communication. I have been part of several "King's Kids", teams which perform music and dance all over Spain. This entailed travelling away from home for 3 weeks at a time, and having to work with around 60 other people. I think that this has made me a fairly rounded person, and I therefore feel confident about "fitting in" with people from any culture.
Yours sincerely,
bzuowen
1、申请加拿大的硕士专业一般需要申请人具有相关本科背景,也就是说对于有学士学位的申请人来说,不是什么硕士专业都可以申请的,除了工商管理硕士(mba)外,几乎所有的加拿大硕士专业均要求申请人是同一本科专业毕业。而且,对于一些特殊专业,即使申请人具有本科专业背景,也不一定被录取;
2、硕士申请的另一个比较重要的环节是申请文书的准备。申请文书包括个人简历、2-3封推荐信、个人陈述。这些申请文书在申请时同申请人的gpa一样重要,研究生院的注册组会从这些文件中判断申请人在成绩单之外是否有潜质继续这一领域的研究。所以推荐信、学习计划、工作经验及申请者个人特点要能用英语非常专业地表达出来,这是申请成功的关键之一;
3、加拿大的硕士申请竞争激烈,学校在审核众多申请者的资料时,都会采取择优录取的方针,即使再好的成绩也不能保证一定被录取或取得奖学金;
4、在校期间的获奖经历、发明或曾发表的优秀论文等都会在申请研究生时增加被录取的几率;
Dear _,
To me, art is like a mystery which is to be solved. I see an
artwork as the concentration of an idea or concept into a physical entity. The
idea or concept is rarely evident through just looking at piece; it requires
analysis or scrutiny to interpret it. This is why I am rarely happy with a piece
of art unless I can see some meaning behind it. Whether it is my own or another
person’s, I feel a great satisfaction when I discover an underlying theme or
message; deliberate or not. It is like poring over a cryptic riddle or a puzzle
for time until all at once it falls into place.
Perhaps it is my obsession with problem-inducing things: cryptic
crosswords, chess, Rubik’s cubes, poker, cribbage and scrabble that have induced
this vision of art. It is the same either way. If I am looking at a Mark Rothko
painting, Rothko has set the puzzle to be deciphered and I am attempting to
solve it, even if the answer is as simple as, ‘a perfect combination of colour’.
If I create an artwork, it will have hidden parameters evident only by scrutiny.
It may be easy to interpret or it may be difficult, it doesn’t matter. I don’t
mind if people don’t interpret it the way I intended; only that it makes sense
in their own minds and that it gives them that same sense of satisfaction that I
get when I solve a puzzle. You could say that that is the ultimate motivation
for the art that I produce.
This theme has also played a strong role in the work that I have been doing
over the past year in my Art Foundation course. In the last ’self’-orientated
project I focussed on my fascination with playing cards and chess combined with
the physical aspects of my life. This has developed into my current project that
concentrates on aspects of chance (chess, playing cards) combined, symbolically,
with aspects of purpose (religion, gods, fate, strategy) through many different
mediums, including customised board games and sculptures. I am intrigued with
hidden meanings, so I am looking at artists such as Joseph Beuys and Leonardo Da
Vinci who are known to use a lot of symbolism in their work.
My current work has developed from many of the foundation course projects I
have done since the beginning of the year. I feel that this year has been a
significant indication of what path I want to follow in the future. I initially
enrolled with the mindset of trying it out and deciding what to do later on in
the year. I have worked hard at keeping up with work and have enjoyed being able
to develop my own ideas creatively over the last two terms. The foundation
course has already taught me how to be broad-minded about what art can be, and
the learning process has been somewhat enlightening. Ultimately I have enjoyed
the course; whether it is experimenting with interesting ideas in my own space,
sharing ideas with my peers about what we are doing or constructing sculptures
in the workshops. Upon having wandered around the degree student’s areas a few
times just to look at the work that is being produced I feel a connection to
what they are doing and what I am currently learning about and it makes me want
to go further with my work. This is why I wish to continue on at the degree
course. I believe it will challenge me and help me to evolve the art that I do
to an even further level.
Since October 2007, I have had a Saturday job working as an assistant in a
butcher’s. This job requires me to make deliveries, clean the shop, serve
customers, prepare meat and I often help out at the hog roast functions that the
shop hires out. I have done my best to work hard at this, as it is the only
proper job I have had apart from a paper round. Alongside attending the
foundation course I feel that it has made me a much more organised and confident
person in terms of arranging my life. I have definitely enjoyed working there as
much as I have worked hard at it. To resound the work I have done I have been
offered more work at the shop and at supervising hog roasts during the
summer.
Yours sincerely,
