when my older son was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, my first reaction was relief - i finally knew the reason for his behavior. however, i was also overwhelmed with sadness, fear and anger. i felt sorry for my son and for myself. like many others in similar circumstances, my question to god was

through the grace of god, i am now able to focus on my gratitude. i believe god chose me to raise my son because he knew that i would

give him the best i have. he will teach me to love and understand him for who he is. i am grateful that i have my son, and grateful that god chose me to be his mother.

there is power and healing in gratitude.

how can gratitude help us in our everyday lives as moms? think about the difference you can make in your family’s life just by noticing and being thankful for all the great things they do. when you express gratitude, you show your love and appreciation. everyone needs to feel these things every day. sometimes as moms we feel that no one appreciates us - and it is true that moms are usually last on the

list to be thanked. one way you can teach gratitude is by example. even on the days when it seems your children or husband are doing everything wrong, find a reason to thank them. take the time and energy to look for the good. think about the things that your family does that deserve a “thank you.” you might say to your husband, “thank you for working so hard for our family,

“i really appreciate your sense of humor - it feels good to laugh.” expressing your gratitude helps family members to understand how it feels to be appreciated. and if they still don’t catch on, let them know when you feel unappreciated. you can also tell them how great it makes you feel when they do express gratitude.

gratitude is a wonderful motivator when you need cooperation. when enlisting the help of my two year old, i praise him often and with enthusiasm. i let him know that he is a great helper. i know i am teaching him appreciation because he expresses it to me. the other day i brought a bunch of multi-colored roses home. for five days, at least once or twice a day, my son thanked me for the flowers.

DEMAND for graduates in the UK with skills related to sustainability is

booming. Academia is waking up to the need to train specialists in green

architecture, chemistry and engineering.

Dean Millar founded the world’s first ever BSc course in Renewable Energy

at Exeter University after working as an industry consultant.

He said: “A lot of companies were complaining that there was a lack of

bright young people suitably trained to work in the renewables business.”

Now his course has around 90 students learning the ins and outs of biomass,

tidal, solar and offshore wind power.

Their career prospects are incredibly bright. Employment opportunities are

not just limited to the energy sector, but segue into the regulatory and,

increasingly, investment sectors as well.

“The big boys are moving in. The returns to be had are significant,

especially in terms of wind development,” said Millar. “Financial firms need

expertise across the board so they can make sensible investment decisions.”

Students on York University’s Master’s course in Green Chemistry are

ideally placed to take advantage of the growing demand in industry for graduates

with waste minimization skills.

Professor James Clark is founder of York’s Green Chemistry Centre for

Excellence and the world’s leading green chemistry journal, Green Chemistry. He

said: “We are now talking to producers of automobiles, electronics, furniture

and pharmaceuticals, people who need to use chemistry but don’t think of

themselves as chemists.”

As waste production legislation becomes increasingly strict, the

traditional emphasis on making as much of a chemical as possible is shifting

towards minimizing the waste that process creates. “A lot of chemicals are made

from petroleum, but we are developing sustainable ways to make carbon, typically

from biomass such as dead plants and trees,” said professor Clark.

All of last year’s graduates quickly found employment, some receiving

multiple job offers in a variety of different fields.

Li Li, a 26-year-old Chinese postgraduate student, graduated from York in

20__. She said:

“I hadn’t heard about green chemistry in China. It was a new area and I was

curious. Now the government back home needs people who know about these

principles.”

Deep in the heart of Wales, 400 students at the Centre for Alternative

Technology’s (CAT) Graduate School of the Environment are busy designing and

building everything from high insulation wood housing to wind power turbines.

With energy costs rising, building firms are increasingly looking to minimize

the energy wasted heating and lighting homes, a service CAT students are

well-equipped to provide.

A new institute is being built to meet the burgeoning demand for places and

a distance learning facility will be launched next September so foreign students

can complete CAT courses from home.

The expertise being taught on these courses is essential to a continually

expanding range of companies and government authorities. Yet there is a larger

goal at stake; the students are at the forefront of the battle against climate

change. In the words of Dean Millar, “If we’re going to save the planet, we need

to start turning these people out in big numbers.”

人类对自然资源不合理利用或掠夺性利用，例如：盲目开荒，滥砍森林、草原超载等，都严重破坏了地球的自然环境，使地球生态平衡失调。地球回报给人们的是土地不断沙漠化，空气污染，一系列一系列的灾难，如地震、海啸、洪水、泥石流、台风都是人类自己造成的。人类呀，你该醒悟了吧。

地球-----是太阳系中一颗有生命存在和人类活动的行星，是一颗蔚蓝色的球形天体，也是目前所知宇宙中有生物演化和高度文明发展的天体。我请大家思考一下：如果没有地球，人类将会怎样呢目前我们还无法移居到别的星球上去，那如果没有地球，我们又该何去何从呢?

在新的世纪里，我们渴望美丽的地球，绿色的家园，湛蓝的天空，清新的空气。可是，由于人类的肆意破坏、污染、浪费，使地球变得千疮百孔、遍体鳞伤。人类受到了大自然的惩罚，逐渐意识到了环保的重要性。我们应当吸取教训，好好保护环境、清洁环境、美化环境，从我做起，从此刻做起，为了地球，为了人类的将来，也为了让我们永远拥有一个完美的生存环境，我真诚地向大家发出如下倡议：

1、共同建设“节俭型社会”，节俭一滴水，节俭一度电，节俭一张纸。节俭用水，用完水后及时拧紧水龙头，避免大开水龙头，提倡用脸盆洗手、洗脸;节俭用电，电器不使用时应关掉电源;节俭用纸，多用手绢、抹布，尽量两面使用纸张。

2、为减少空气污染、节俭能源，尽量使用公共交通工具、自行车或步行。

3、为保护森林、矿产等自然资源，尽量购买使用再生材料制成的、可多次长期使用的商品;减少使用一次性纸杯、一次性木筷和餐盒等。

4、减少使用塑料袋，它是白色污染的元凶。

5、发展经济不能以破坏环境为代价，要把发展经济与保护环境放在同等的位置。

6、加强环保的宣传教育，从小培养环保意识，进取投入到保护环境的活动当中。

7、自觉保护生态环境，进取参与绿化美化活动。

地球仅有一个，她的生命是脆弱的，不能因为我们为着眼前的发展和获得微小利益，以肆虐的行为，无“度”的获取，使原本已经脆弱的躯体更加脆弱!记住，保护地球，就是保护我们自我!

尊敬的同学们：

你们好！今天我的演讲的内容是有关环保的。

提起环保，大家可能会想起我们伟大无私的地球妈妈，因为地球妈妈正因人类的不环保而日益衰老，还得了重病。你们说认为人类是个大孝子吗？不，不是，因为他们亲手让自己的母亲得重病，而且日益衰老，但是人类还不认错，不过，还有一些人类知错就改并且到处宣传，使地球妈妈早点康复。在这里我向大家提几条环保建议，也顺便也说说对环境的看法：

1、既然是环境保护，当然要先搞绿化了。希望全世界每个人争取每年种植一棵树，多搞一些退耕还林的`宣传活动。

2、减少战争，减少核污染，因为有非常强的核辐射，会致人严重疾病和造成严重的环境污染。

3、把工厂排出的污水进行净化，再流向庄稼或河流，并且不乱排废气，以减少污染。

4、开播一个专门的环保教育频道，对全世界的地球居民进行环保教育。

5、不要无节制的大肆开采资源，以导致资源枯竭。

最后，还是一句老话：保护地球就是保护人类自己。

垃圾桶上，正面钉着一块宣传标语牌：“讲卫生，爱清洁，垃圾入箱。”白底红字，十分醒目。

我单手端着满满一簸箕垃圾，离垃圾箱还差两步远就冲着箱口，使劲把簸箕一倒。“叭”地一下，满簸箕垃圾，一大半散落箱外。我刚要转身往回走，又停了下来，看着那块标语牌：“讲卫生，爱清洁，垃圾入箱。”我想回去把那堆垃圾捡起来，可又一想：“我为什么要捡?浪费时间，我还要回去写作业呢!”然后我转身就走。

没走几步，有个小弟弟叫住了我：“哥哥，你把垃圾撒到外面了!”“那又怎样?”我不屑的问。“哥哥，老师以前给我们讲过，要爱护环境，所以你应该把那堆垃圾捡起来!”小弟弟坚持着，我可不管他：“我就不爱护环境!我不把它捡起来!”我大声说“你管不着我!”小弟弟被我吓跑了，我也得意扬扬的走了。

突然，我停了下来，看着那堆垃圾。感觉周围的人都在看着我，所以我不敢抬头看别人，只敢看着那堆垃圾。我久久的注视着那堆垃圾，不知道到底是捡还是不捡?我的心里就像有两个人在打架，一个说捡，一个说不捡。我不知道这是怎么回事，自己内心非常恐慌，非常害怕。害怕父母不管我，害怕朋友不理我。想到这里，我还是把那堆垃圾捡了起来。

此时此刻，我非常开心，心里好像放下了千斤重担。我也不用担心父母不管我;不用担心朋友不理我;不用担心别人都看着我!现在想起那个小弟弟，说实话，我还真的有点感谢他。

通过了今天的这个事情，我才明白了什么是“讲卫生，爱清洁”;明白了什么是“保护环境，人人有责”!

Many wild animals are facing the danger of extinction，because the

environment that they are living in has changed greatly.For example，with the

developmet of cities，the using of insecticide and serious pollution，their living

areas have bee narrowcr and narrower.Many of the wild animals，now are confronted

with food crisis.At the same time，man is killing off species just for getting

their fur，skin，horns，teeth and meat. In order to protect our resources of

ecology，people should realize that the loss of any species is at least the loss

of source of knowledge and a source of natural beauty.There fore，measures of the

following should be taken:pollution standards are made to keepdown poisons;

killing off certain rare species is prohibited; national parks should be set up

as wild life，reserves. Only if we human beings take some drastic measures can

wild animals be preserved. 许多野生动物正面临绝种的危险，因为它们生活的环境发生了极大的变化.譬

如，随着城市的发展，杀虫剂的使用和严重的污染，野生动物的生活区域变得越来越狭小。许多野生动物目前正面临着食物方面的危机。同时，为了获取野生动物的毛、皮、角、牙齿和肉，人类正在屠杀野生动物。为了保护生态资源，人们应当意识到任何物种的缺失，至少意味着知识资源和自然美的缺失。因此，应采取以下措施：制订污染标准以降低有毒物质;严禁杀害某些稀有物种;应建立国家公园作为野生动植物保护区。我们只有采取一些有力措施，才能保护野生动物。

When I was young,I always dreamed that I lived in a beautiful country.

There were many flowers and trees around our city. We could hear the birds

singing and see the children dancing. The streets were clear and the the air was

very fresh! How nice it was!But that only was a dream of mine!How I wish that it

would be come true! So I think we should do something to protect our

environment. Everyone should make a contribution to protect the environment.

Taking care of our environment is very important.Wherever you live,you can

do something around your neighbourhood.

Have you ever thrown any litter onto the ground? Have you ever drawn

pictures on public walls?Have you ever spat in a public place? Have you ever cut

down trees?If your answers are "No",it means that you have already helped

protect our environment.

It is our duty to keep our environment clean and tidy. You might ask

yourself,"Have I ever picked up some rubbish and thrown it into a dustbin?Have I

ever collected waste paper or bottles for recycling? Have I ever planted any

trees or flowers in or near my neighbourhood?" If your answers are"Yes", it

means that you have already done something useful to improve the

environment.

前不久，相信老师们的微 信朋友圈都被柴静和她的《苍穹之下》所刷屏，相信同学们也听说了。柴静自费调查雾霾一事颇受关注，纪录片上线1天，点击量已破600万，被点赞6万多次。柴静向大家奉献的一场大型空气污染深度公益调查——《柴静雾霾调查：穹顶之下》，引发了许多读者同情和焦虑的同时，也再度引起了人们对环境与健康的关注。对此，环保部部长陈吉宁表示，柴静从公众健康这一特殊的角度，来唤起公众对环境的关注，值得我们敬佩与学习。记录片中，柴静试图回答三个问题：“雾霾是什么?它从哪儿来?我们怎么办?”。让我们对“雾霾”所带来的危害有了深刻的认知。“雾霾”在今天，已经近乎常态，并且已开始影响到大家的身体健康，想重新拥有一片干净的蓝天、一份清新的空气，已经成为大众心中普遍的心声。蓝天白云，这些曾经很简单就能拥有的东西，在这个时代中，已经成为奢侈品。

世界地球日，在全世界都关注我们自身环境之时，我们究竟能够做什么呢?记得荷兰的一个小女孩对她的爷爷说：“我长大之后，要到很远的地方旅行，并要住在大海边。”她的爷爷说，这些都很好，但是，你还要再做一件能让这个世界变得更美丽的事情。于是小女孩长大后，选择在海边种满了美丽的紫兰色的扁豆花，成为了当地的一道靓丽的风景线。从身边做起，谁说你不能改变世界?

就如同柴静所说，治理好污染。它要依靠的，就是每一个像你我这样的普通人。我想我们要做的绝不应该是仅在4月的某一天为保护环境而喊口号，而应该是行动!让我们不再袖手旁观。用热情传播环保的理念，用行动净化生存环境。

虽然这些小事都看起来微不足道，但是从我做起，从现在做起，每个人把每一天都当做是地球日，就能为这个已经不堪重负的地球母亲减少一些痛苦，同学们，让我们积极投入到保护校园环境，保护大自然的队伍中去吧!因为，我们有一个共同的母亲，保护她，更要爱她。
