Nineteen years ago, almost to the day, we lost three astronauts in a terrible accident on the ground. But we've never lost an astronaut in flight. We've never had a tragedy like this. And perhaps we've forgotten the courage it took for the crew of theShuttle. But they, the Challenger Seven, were aware of the dangers, but overcame them and did their jobs brilliantly. We mourn seven heroes: Michael Smith, Dick Scobee, Judith Resnik, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Gregory Jarvis, and Christa McAuliffe. We mourn their loss as a nation together.

For the families of the seven, we cannot bear, as you do, the full impact of this tragedy. But we feel the loss, and we're thinking about you so very much. Your loved ones were daring and brave, and they had that special grace, that special spirit that says, "Give me a challenge, and I'll meet it with joy." They had a hunger to explore the universe and discover its truths. They wished to serve, and they did. They served all of us.

We've grown used to wonders in this century. It's hard to dazzle us. But for twenty-five years the United StatesSpaceprogram has been doing just that. We've grown used to the idea of space, and, perhaps we forget that we've only just begun. We're still pioneers. They, the members of the Challenger crew, were pioneers.

There's a coincidence today. On this day three hundred and ninety years ago, the great explorer Sir Francis Drake died aboard ship off the coast of Panama. In his lifetime the great frontiers were the oceans, and a historian later said, "He lived by the sea, died on it, and was buried in it." Well, today, we can say of the Challenger crew: Their dedication was, like Drake's, complete.

And I want to say something to the schoolchildren of America who were watching the live coverage of the shuttle's take-off. I know it's hard to understand, but sometimes painful things like this happen. It's all part of the process of exploration and discovery. It's all part of taking a chance and expanding man's horizons. The future doesn't belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave. The Challenger crew was pulling us into the future, and we'll continue to follow them.

The crew of the space shuttle Challenger honored us by the manner in which they lived their lives. We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and "slipped the surly bonds of earth" to "touch the face of God."

I've always had great faith in and respect for our space program. And what happened today does nothing to diminish it. We don't hide our space program. We don't keep secrets and cover things up. We do it all up front and in public. That's the way freedom is, and we wouldn't change it for a minute.

We'll continue our quest in space. There will be more shuttle flights and more shuttle crews and, yes, more volunteers, more civilians, more teachers in space. Nothing ends here; our hopes and our journeys continue.

I want to add that I wish I could talk to every man and woman who works for NASA, or who worked on this mission and tell them: "Your dedication and professionalism have moved and impressed us for decades. And we know of your anguish. We share it."

转眼间三年的大学生活即将过去，这段经历让我受益匪浅，无论是从思想还是为人处事的能力上，从生活或者是学习上，都有了一定的飞跃和突破。

“我得在这里留下点什么才能回去!”来自山东青岛的王凯丽在来到大学前对自己这样说道。

于是，带着明确的目标，在大学四年里，她以高标准要求自己，“这是压力，也是动力”，石凯丽说。无论是在学校操场的角落练习一下午，只为了给部门开一次例会;还是在准备“东芝杯”比赛的过程中，在学校三教和七教大大小小的教室里一次次的试讲，石凯丽心里只有一个想法：上了台代表的就不是自己一个人，不能辜负了大家的期望。

“我不仅严于律己，对待他人我也同样有很高的要求。”共同工作的小伙伴害怕她的严格，但更多的是认同，因为石凯丽从不将工作代入生活，工作效率高、质量好，私下与同伴相处得也很好，“聚似一团火，散似满天星。无论是聚拢还是散开，我们总会发光发亮。”用她自己的话来形容她与工作伙伴的关系再适合不过了。

在采访过程中，石凯丽提到最多的就是“要在最好的年纪做些什么，不让青春就这样过去”。她确实也是这样做的。大一到大四的暑假，一次次的实践经历和志愿者活动，就像是一层层的阶梯，让石凯丽慢慢地、一步步脚踏实地地实现自己的目标。采访时，石凯丽告诉记者她明天将和学校领导共同到乐山峨边调研，这是她所担任队长的支教团未来一年将要待的地方，也是学校支教团十多年来第一次到达的地方。对于诸多的第一次，石凯丽的期待多于紧张，很多人劝她说没必要去，她却说她喜欢这样的挑战，喜欢一切未知的东西，她要用一年的时间做一辈子难忘的事。石凯丽的信条是，要做想做的事、做该做的事，在最好的时光里不负青春。

两个月的实习已经结束了不管过程如何在实习的这两个月中真的学到了好多东西，学到了好多课堂上学不到的东西，这次实习时间虽短暂，但收获颇多。

在实习之前，同学们对实习充满了这样那样的猜想，但大家肯定都没有猜到实际的情况，社会上的复杂性真的给我们这些在校的大学生好好的上了一课。在实习刚开始的时候，同学们多少的有点不适应，心理有些波动，我觉得这都是非常正常的现象，因为大多数同学都没有这种实践的经历，突然间干些重活累活是有些吃不消，好在同学们都在积极的调整大家都很快的适应了岗位。

在实习过程中，同学们表现出了吃苦耐劳的精神，表现出了集体主义精神，在工作过程中大家都表现出良好的职业道德，在与员工的交往中大家都表现得非常热情，结交了好多的朋友。这次实习中最让我感到高兴的事就是增进了同学们之间的距离，加强了班级的凝聚力，大家在一起不再像是以前那种死气沉沉的感觉了而是有说有笑非常的热闹，有什么事情大家一起解决，谁需要帮助大家都积极的向前。

实习过程中正是有了同学们的陪伴才把枯燥的工作变得有了色彩。其实实习是每个大学生必须拥有一段经历，是从青葱校园走向繁复社会的一个过渡，它会教给我很多在校园里面无法从书本中学习的知识，也是我成长过程的一个重要阶段。

通过这次实习，让我比较全面地了解了酒店的组织架构和经营业务，接触了形形色色的客人，同时还结识了很好的同事和朋友，他们让我更深刻地了解了社会，他们拓宽了我的视野，也教会了我如何去适应社会融入社会。

这次实习使我们的专业知识得到巩固和开拓，使我们更容易将所学与实践联系起来；实习使我们认识到自身知识的缺漏，必须重拾书本，虚心请教老师，弥补自身的不足；实习使我们更加明确自己的努力的方向，必须充分利用好现有的资源来加深自己的专业涵养。

这次实习也让我认识到处理好人际关系的重要性，让我锻炼了自己与人交往的能力，让我学会了忍耐。很多工作都是很普通的事，不需要特别的才能，唯独不能没有交际能力。在实习过程中，交到了好多的朋友，员工大都都是那样的热情友好，他们并没有因为我们是实习生而对我们冷漠生硬，在劳累之余，同事们的一个甜美的微笑，一句再普通不过的"辛苦了"都会让人感动。

通过这次实习让我感受到做人不要太高傲不要太气盛，要虚心，要平心静气的接受别人的长处和优点以及建议，这样你的头脑才时刻是清醒的吧，这样你才能在不断的竞争中取得自己的成功和收获。实习过程中，我们不会因为还是本科在读生而受到特别的礼遇，和其他心员工一样，从酒店基本知识和本职工作开始了解，偶尔做错事，也不会有人偏袒。

这次实习还让我体会到了英语的重要性，在接待的顾客中，有很大一部分是外国人，于他们沟通交流需要的就是英语。以前身边生活的都是中国人，没觉得英语有什么用处，通过这次实习可是有很深的体会了，让我认识到了自己的不足，给了我努力学习的动力。

这次实习让我明白了无论做什么一定要用心，要负责任，要动脑子。要正确认识自己的长处和不足，虚心学习他人成功的工作经验，踏踏实实地做好实习工作；在实习的过程中，多思考，多比较，用心体会，多尝试把所学的书本知识应用于工作实际；要认真及时地总结实习经验和心得，尤其是对实习中遇到的问题，要多分析，多请教，找出问题的症结所在，并努力克服。在实习过程中大家表现的都非常的有责任心，既然选择留下了，大家在岗位上表现的都非常的尽职尽责，认真的干好本职工作，不偷懒，没有为班级和学校摸黑。

通过这次实习加深了我们对社会复杂现象的认识，增长了见识。实习给了我们这些身处象牙塔的人一次缓冲的机会，明白了社会是与校园完全不同的。我们要学习的还有很多，我们要思考的还有很多，我们要想通的也有很多。

If you're middle-aged and your memory's not what it used to be, check the

bathroom scale, researchers warned, suggesting overweight people tend to score

more poorly on tests of memory than their thinner peers do.

The findings suggest that a heavier weight in middle age may mean a higher

risk of dementia later in life.

Reporting in the journal Neurology, the researchers speculated that higher

rates of cardiovascular disease or diabetes might help explain the link. But

it's also possible that substances produced by fat cells, such as the hormone

leptin, have direct effects on the brain.

The study compared mental abilities to body mass index (BMI), a

measurement of weight in relation to height used to define overweight and

obesity. A BMI of 25 or more indicates overweight, and 30 or more is obese.

The study also investigated the relationships between BMI and cognitive

function in 2,223 healthy men and women between the ages of 32 and 62 in France

through the use of four cognitive tests.

The study found a higher BMI was associated with lower cognitive test scores.

Results from a test involving word memory recall show people with a BMI of 20

remembered an average of nine out of 16 words, while people with a BMI of 30

remembered an average of seven out of 16 words.

一、实践目的

似乎是从中学开始，假期社会实践这一词汇便在我们的脑海漫慢的留下印象，社会实践本应该是由自身自发参加，但是我们却赋予了它学分的价值，在目前中国教育由应试性转变的过程中，毫无疑问，强制力远远要有效于自制力，为了这门必修课，我们无疑要着手准备重视，然而完成一件事情，可以敷衍，可以认真，我们已经是成年人，理应应该去真正的做些什么事情来锻炼我们自己，同时承担一份自己力所能力的责任。社会实践的形式多种多样，我们选择成立爱心支教团，是因为我们能力有限，我们不可能去探究一些未知的新发明，或者去调查个什么事情，取得多么宏伟的成绩，那也是痴人说梦。我们的资本，就是十年寒窗的积累，在那些落后的地区，孩子们始终把大学当做多么遥遥无期的目标，他们包括父母家人的观念，都或多或少有一些局限性，的确，大学梦是每个家庭的梦想，然而教育水平的不发达再一次造成了困扰，虽然只有十几天，但是我们会尽可能把握一分一秒，尽可能为他们解决更多的问题，要知道，不会的东西数不胜数，但是学习一些基本技巧，那会如虎添翼。我们在这十几天中，能够让他们感受到关爱，能够有所学有所长有所信心有所希望，那当我们在踏上回家的归途时，可以问心无愧，给孩子们一个满意的交代，给寄希望于他们一身的父母一个满意的答卷，也是给我们此行画上一个完美的休止符，那便足矣。

二、实践内容

本学期期末考试于7月9日结束，因为实践活动小组成员家住距离有远有近，有本省的，也有东北等地，考虑到回家的方便性，我们把实践时间定于7月0日开始。另外，虽然我们已满8岁，但还是学生，还是每一位爸爸妈妈的掌中宝，一切经济来源依旧是依靠父母，初定有两个实践地点：一是选择在鹿邑县；二是选择和其他大学团队一起去。因为是本地，加之有本地同学，在语言沟通交流，以及人身安全，包括花销成本，相对于方案二都有一定的保障，因此最后我们决定的实践地点，就是xx市鹿邑县xx村，之前经调查了解，xx村经济水平有限，很多大人都选择外出打工，所以有很多留守儿童。

队伍一行3人，相对于其他实践团队人数，有2倍之余，一同乘长途汽车也不方便带队，因此我们决定分两个小队出发，第一个小队于7月0日早晨到达目的地，负责活动正式开始前的前期准备，在当地进行此次活动的宣传，选定被帮助的学生，与当地村委会、政府取得联系，出示相关证明。有一个比较纠结的问题就是我们的住宿问题，我们初定方案是在被辅导学生的家中，但是也要考虑我们团队女生成员的安全问题，以及其他方面，因此第一小队在到达时，经过一天的奔波，熟悉了周围的环境，同时找到了一家小的家庭旅社，所有安排准备就绪，只等与第二小队会面。

7月日早晨，第二小队出发，经过三个多小时的车程，在中午到达我们的实践地点，3位成员碰面，为了保证教学质量，我们决定以一对一辅导的教学方式，早上一起从旅社到xx村，然后各自到各自的学生家中，中午间隔性的一起在外面的小餐馆吃午餐，之后回到各自学生家中午休，继续上课辅导，下午六点于固定地点集合返回。

意料之外，也是情理之中的是，之前在联系3名学生的`时候，便有很多家长闻讯主动上门找到了我们，请求为孩子辅导功课，孩子人数不断增加5人、xx年龄在慢慢地削减，这个谁都不可否认，自私是人类的天性，生活中我们每一个人，都会或多或少的为自己的利益驱使。当我们走入一片乡村，正如一句话所讲，城里有着乡下人的梦想，而乡下，则有着城里人安心的向往。走在乡村的街头，感受到的就是不一样的气氛，那些叔叔阿姨们的热情、淳朴，正是现在城里很多所感觉不到的，仿佛就是回家了一般，兄弟姐妹们一起学习、一起生活。

而我们，要做的事情是让它更有意义，很多人在网上谈论关于支教的黑化，不可否认，在这种世俗功利的社会，学分就是大学生的利益，但是我们自己，作为这个群体的一份子，就是要通过我们的行动，问心无愧，来抵触这些负面的影响，担出自己应该的责任，作为当代的大学生，不求代表全中国学生来树立一个所谓的形象，至少，在我们身边，那些被帮助的孩子们、家长们，能有一个评价：现在的大学生，真好！我们长大了也要这样，慢慢的去传播，去传递，那么我们这次的实践活动，无论公众如何去评判，至少我们心里清楚，我们做的，比任何人都优秀！

“Way to Blue. Everybody Hurts. Glad to be Unhappy.”

These were some of the chart-toppers announced on the radio while I was at the barbershop a year ago. Quite depressing, huh.

I asked my brother, Joe, why songs that display such unhappiness reach the charts. Joe is an established businessman who is always confident with his viewpoints. He reacted quickly and questioned me in a matter-of-fact tone, “can’t you relate to the song?” He then confidently pointed to the Buddhists’ explanation of happiness, explaining to me that happiness is never a constant state, but rather only a temporary escape from suffering. While I respect the Buddhist explanation, I couldn’t help but ask: so what is keeping you from experiencing happiness? Joe lost his assertiveness when I mentioned this and he replied, “While I gain acceptance from my peers and family, I feel like I’m a nobody. These songs act as a route for me to escape. I don’t see happiness as attainable in my life.”

While Joe transformed from a confident speaker to a soft-spoken melancholic within a matter of a minute, my barber offered him a sympathetic smile. He spoke up. “I was exactly like you - once upon a time, I deceived myself into thinking I was happy. I followed the majority’s norms of a stable job in brokerage and felt I gained society’s acceptance. I was loved! But deep down, I loved songs like these because I felt so useless. I felt that whatever I did made no difference in the world. I found an escape from this mainstream music as a means of explaining myself. Then the next day, I’d put on my suit and be a nobody again.

Then I asked, but how about now? “Now?” The barber said, smiling. “Now, I don’t think this music deserves its place on the charts.” He flipped over to his playlist and played us a song - “Mayfly” by Cheer Chen.

The lyrics goes “Everyday when we open our eyes, we are all mayflies. Living a simple life, chasing a dream vigorously, searching for nothing but happiness.”

“I think this music deserves a place on the charts. I wish people could search for happiness by only looking forward, and be brave enough neglect harsh criticisms and mockeries along the way - just like a mayfly. A mayfly only sees what is ahead of it - why else would their lives be so simple otherwise? I became a barber because I wanted to attain happiness - sure, I experienced disapproval from peers and such, but I did not want to become “a firefly without light”. I find happiness when I mix with trendy young people that are eager to make their customers look better - sure, some may not understand why this brings me happiness, but does it matter?”

My brother Joe and I had a long conversation that evening. We debated vigorously on our different values of happiness - while the conversation with the barber relit my childhood dream of being a conductor, Joe still questions whether stable happiness can achieved even if his dreams are fulfilled. But ultimately, we agreed that one should not let others decide your own standard of happiness. Don’t deceive yourself into sadness and despair; pick yourself up and find your own definition of happiness. Thank you.

dreams? Maybe， to somebody， reality has little relation to ideal. To others

nothing can be done without the sense of reality. So make our dreams a part of

our reality. And make our reality a part of our dreams. There is no reason why

our dreams must oppose our reality. Improve our dreams and our reality by

bringing them together.

As a university student， establishing a dream is one of the most important

things we have to do everyone must see the reality clearly at first. Your family

condition， your personal ability， your social intercourse (交往、交流)， your subject

and the job you want to do， these things show you the reality and lead you to

establish a dream.

Further more， difficult or otherwise， we should put the power of reality

into our dreams. Last but not least remember to work hard at the task of chasing

I come from one of the most lovely and attractive areas of China, the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province and I'd love to say a few words about this area that is so dear to my heart.

Guangdong Province is a magically beautiful wonderland, with endless natural treasures. The lush and green mountains are inhabited by songbirds and exotic animals; the farm land is fertile and productive, providing all of its people with wonderfully nutritious grains and all the fruits they need to be healthy and strong. The Pearl River meanders through the province and eventually comes to our beautiful seashore with crystal clear blue water, flourishing with all kinds of different fish and sea creatures. All these natural advantages help to boost the ever-expanding economy of Guangdong and increase the welfare of its people.

Guangdong is privileged to have such a beautiful landscape, with hundreds of historical sites and places of great interest to local people and foreigners alike. Our capital city, Guangzhou, is also known as "the city of flowers". Everywhere you look you will see flourishing plants and blossoming flowers overflowing with vigor.

The people of Guagdong are very friendly to visitors from anywhere. Whoever you are and wherever you come from, Guangdong people will greet you with the only language---Guangdong dialect.

Guangdong is also known as the Chinese capital of delicious food. There is an old saying that "The only best delicacies are in Guangdong.” Food from this province is internationally famous. Its variety of tastes, shapes and colors can satisfy even the most refined palette. I'm sure, the moment you seat yourself at a Cantonese banquet, your appetite will naturally become keen and eager to taste all the numerous delicacies of the region. Here are but a few I will mention in passing: steamed fish in ginger sauce, seasoned chicken, drunken shrimp, dance fish balls, fried jellyfish, roast suckling pig or duck, braised crispy chicken or squab, shark fin soup, moon cakes, refreshments and desert, and so many more. My mouth is watering just at the sound of these wonderful dishes.

一、入党，心中的梦

四、立足专业，全面发展，积极参加课外活动

在大学成长必须去接触全面的事务才能让你快速的增长，大学代表着一个新的平台，这里不是一个将学习作为一切工作的天地了。这是我目前所认为的，并且我认为是正确的。在大学参加的第一个活动应该算是校知识竞赛了，虽然没有取得去校参加答辩的机会，但是第一次让我对于我校的规章制度、发展历史、贤者名辈有了了解。有了如何要求自我，甚至奋斗目标的理念。例如：学雷锋活动、运动会、十佳歌手大赛。但最值得一提应该属于全国大学生创业大赛，回想起那些练习和比赛的日子，至今仍然感觉清晰昨日。因为比赛去过网吧集体通宵，顶着炎热不断练习提升，一起为一个方案而执执辩论。最重要的是我们的努力得到了证明，在比赛过程中获得陕西省一等奖、西部区域赛二等奖、全国总决赛二等奖。这让我直接和其他学校的同学进行交往，汇集了大量的人脉关系和对于他人的了解，为自己的定位做了又一次标准，同时为自己奋斗的明天插上了崭新的羽翼。

someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. i dont know who wrote these words, but ive always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. we are all in the position of the farmers. if we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. if we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

we are young. “how to spend the youth?” it is a meaningful question. to answer it, first i have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” youth is not a time of life, its a state of mind. its not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. its the matter of the will. its the freshness of the deep spring of life.

youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we grow old by deserting our ideals. years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .

whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of whats next and the joy of the game of living . in the center of your heart and my heart theres a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

a poet said “to see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. several days ago, i had a chance to listen to a lecture. i learnt a lot there. id like to share it with all of you. lets show our right palms. we can see three lines that show how our love.career and life is. i have a short line of life. what about yours? i wondered whether we could see our future in this way. well, lets make a fist. where is our future? where is our love, career, and life? tell me.yeah, it is in our hands. it is held in ourselves.

we all want the future to be better than the past. but the future can go better itself. dont cry because it is over, smile because it happened. from the past, weve learnt that the life is tough, but we are tougher. weve learnt that we cant choose how we feel, but we can choose what about it. failure doesnt mean you dont have it, it does mean you should do it in a different way. failure doesnt mean you should give up, it does mean you must try harder.

as what i said at the beginning, “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. the past has gone. nothing we do will change it. but the future is in front of us. believe that what we give to the world, the world will give to us. and from today on, lets be the owners of ourselves, and speak out “we are the world, we are the future.”

Winston Churchill presented his Sinews of Peace, (the Iron Curtain Speech), at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri on March 5, 1946 .

President McCluer, ladies and gentlemen, and last, but certainly not least, the President of the United States of America:

I am very glad indeed to come to Westminster College this afternoon, and I am complimented that you should give me a degree from an institution whose reputation has been so solidly established. The name "Westminster" somehow or other seems familiar to me. I feel as if I have heard of it before. Indeed now that I come to think of it, it was at Westminster that I received a very large part of my education in politics, dialectic, rhetoric, and one or two other things. In fact we have both been educated at the same, or similar, or, at any rate, kindred establishments.

It is also an honor, ladies and gentlemen, perhaps almost unique, for a private visitor to be introduced to an academic audience by the President of the United States. Amid his heavy burdens, duties, and responsibilities--unsought but not recoiled from--the President has traveled a thousand miles to dignify and magnify our meeting here to-day and to give me an opportunity of addressing this kindred nation, as well as my own countrymen acrothe ocean, and perhaps some other countries too. The President has told you that it is his wish, as I am sure it is yours, that I should have full liberty to give my true and faithful counsel in these anxious and baffling times. I shall certainly avail myself of this freedom, and feel the more right to do so because any private ambitions I may have cherished in my younger days have been satisfied beyond my wildest dreams. Let me however make it clear that I have no official mission or status of any kind, and that I speak only for myself. There is nothing here but what you see.

I can therefore allow my mind, with the experience of a lifetime, to play over the problems which beset us on the morrow of our absolute victory in arms, and to try to make sure with what strength I have that what has gained with so much sacrifice and suffering shall be preserved for the future glory and safety of mankind.

Ladies and gentlemen, the United States stands at this time at the pinnacle of world power. It is a solemn moment for the American Democracy. For with primacy in power is also joined an awe-inspiring accountability to the future. If you look around you, you must feel not only the sense of duty done but also you must feel anxiety lest you fall below the level of achievement. Opportunity is here and now, clear and shining for both our countries. To reject it or ignore it or fritter it away will bring upon us all the long reproaches of the after-time. It is necessary that the constancy of mind, persistency of purpose, and the grand simplicity of decision shall rule and guide the conduct of the English-speaking peoples in peace as they did in war. We must, and I believe we shall, prove ourselves equal to this severe requirement.

President McCluer, when American military men approach some serious situation they are wont to write at the head of their directive the words "over-all strategic concept". There is wisdom in this, as it leads to clarity of thought. What then is the over-all strategic concept which we should inscribe to-day? It is nothing lethan the safety and welfare, the freedom and progress, of all the homes and families of all the men and women in all the lands. And here I speak particularly of the myriad cottage or apartment homes where the wage-earner strives amid the accidents and difficulties of life to guard his wife and children from privation and bring the family up the fear of the Lord, or upon ethical conceptions which often play their potent part.
