Most people would like to be popular with others, but not everyone can

achieve this goal. What is the secret to popularity? In fact, it is very simple.

The first step is to improve our appearance. We should always make sure that we

stay in good shape and dress well. When we are healthy and well-groomed, we will

not only look better but also feel better. In addition, we should smile and

appear friendly. After all, our facial expression is an important part of our

首先，用词准确，译文完整要求译者在翻译时，应做到用词严谨、措辞确切。只有译文完整准确时才是准确合理的，这样内容看起更加的完整和清晰，便于读者能够准确的理解内容。其次，在专业实习实践中.词量增减也是很重要的一个翻译技巧。翻译过程中要根据原文上下文意思、逻辑关系以及译文语言句法特点和表达习惯，在翻译时有时增加原文字面没有出现但实际内容已包含词，或者减去原文虽有但译文语言表达用不着的词。在增词的时候，根据具体上下文.可增加动词、形容词 名词或别词类.但在什么时候增加什么样词，才能恰到好处，而不超出一定界限，则需要在长期的翻译过程中实践和积累。减词译法可以使译文言简意赅.改变翻译中逐字翻译作造成的累赘、拖沓或不符合行文习惯.甚至产生歧义的现象。第三，做好译入语中无“对应词”的原语翻译由于英语中的有些词语，在汉语中常常只能找到部分对应的词语，有些甚至没有对应的词语，从而造成了词语的空缺。因此，在对这些在无“对应词”的译入语来说，并且具备很重的文化，在翻译的时候，必须对其文化进行适当的调整。由于不同文化背景下的人们在使用语言相互交流的过程中会产生文化障碍 ，从而产生了不同语言之间进行翻译的问题。

首先要抓好专业课。抓住了专业课就等于抓住了基本功。

把舞会，约会，网会变成阅读，听力，翻译，您会发现你的到的更多。

翻译需要深厚的汉语功底，所以请您英汉并重，千万别忽略了汉语素养的提高。但是时间总是有限的，我建议您多看些大书虫之类英汉对照的书籍，最好是外研社出版的，译文质量高些。难的资料可以粗读，刚开始可以先读汉语后读英语，比如鲁迅的作品。简单一些的可以英汉对照互译，边阅读边在心里翻译，比如海明威的一些作品。

打好了坚实的基础还要花些时间来做些翻译联系，选择些短小精炼的散文中英文对照书籍，译文质量很高的还可以背诵一些。这些联系最好放在开翻译课的那一年来进行，边学翻译理论，边做练习。注意练习要在题材上覆盖一定的面。

同时，多注意时文，报刊，杂志，准备个本子，多记录写平时遇到的经典表达的英汉互译。还有翻译也有很多门类，比如科技英语，法律英语等，各不相同，你可以根据自己兴趣选择一个偏向，以便将来考研

三级翻译水平适合非英语专业的六级过了的考生或英语专业大专水平的人去考，而二级则是英语专业本科或研究生水平的人可考。

一个合格的翻译需要有较高的中外文造诣和丰富的翻译经验(50万字以上)，并应不间断地进行翻译练习，这样才能保持较高的翻译水准。以英语为例，并不是大学英语考过6级或8级就可以做翻译，大学英语6-8级只要求6000左右单词的词汇量。这对于读懂稍有难度的稿件是不够的。更重要的是，应试的英语考试与实际的翻译需求之间存在者很大的差别。

大学的最后的一个学期，我来到一家翻译公司实习。我应聘的职务是英语校对，刚开始我对这个工作不是很了解，以为就是检查检查错误就可以了，然而就是这份我认为很简单的工作，我却在在实习期内出现了不少的错误。

工作的性质需要我们仔细、认真并且耐心

我在几个月的实习期间被经理批评过多次，因为每次的成稿总会有一些小小的错误。我就把我经常出错的地方、原因写到一张纸上，在每次交给经理稿子之前都再仔细检查一下有没有再出现这些错误，确认无误后，才把稿子给她。这样一来，以后就很少出错了。我总结出，无论以后做什么工作都要仔细认真的完成，哪怕还有上百件事情堆在身后，好好完成一件比仓促完成十件好得多!

英语知识的积累

刚开始，经理会发给我们一些以前校过的稿子，让我们译文原文对着看。因为我们公司主要是做石油机械设备这部分，相对来说，懂这方面的比较少，而且偏老年化，所以我们公司稿子都是北京一些高校的老师教授翻的。真的很庆幸能够看到老教授们翻得稿子，这样我在不管是用词还是组句方面都能学到很多。真是受益匪浅啊!而且我们每人都有台电脑，网络资源十分便利，稍有不懂便可上网查询。

再后来，如果有比较简单的小稿子，经理会先发给我们，让我们试着翻。等翻译翻完之后，我们拿自己的和翻译翻的相对比，缺陷不足显露无疑。学到知识的同时，也添加了继续努力的信心。

计算机操作能力提高

因为我们公司还负责排版，就是说，译文原文校对完之后，按照原文格式调整好，使其尽量保持原文面貌。我本来计算机操作就不熟练，打字也不快，这样一来，我有些工作也许会因为我的操作不熟练而拖延完成。第一个月没少吃了计算机操作不熟练的苦。以前在学校只知道word文档、幻灯片，却没有实际操作过。而现在我们每天都要同word文档、powerpoint、excel打交道，此外还有pdf，cad制图。好在我们公司的排版人员都很友善，有不懂我们都可以向她们请教。

增加了对未来的信心

从我开始学习英语以来，我就梦想着有一天可以做翻译。这一行业在我心中一直是很神圣的。所以我很珍惜这份实习工作，因为我感觉离梦想越来越近了，只要我坚持不懈的努力。

以前也想过，学我们英语专业的，也许以后最起码存在那种机会去走向讲台，所以，这短短的两个月的经历，对我来说，无疑是一个很好的煅练，而且，专门机构统计的现在的毕业生出来后只有极少的一部分会做与自己专业相符的工作，因而。、在工作的过程中，我都在不断的提醒自己，不断的对自己要求，把手上的活，当做是自己的本职工作，而老板常常强调的就是每个员工都必需要有认真负责的态度去做事，我也觉得这是以后无论做任何一份工作都会收到的要求。

大一：自由

要初步了解职业，特别是自己未来所想从事的。提高人际沟通能力，多参加学校社团活动，了解交际技巧。

学习英语：上课时认真听讲，珍惜去语音室听听力的时间。为提高英语水平，争取更多发言机会，尽可能和同学交流;计算机：提高打字速度，学好课本上要求的课程如word等办公文件，学习制作网页基本知识，熟练掌握网上查找信息功能的能力;专业知识：看相关的书籍，对其中的一些概念有初步了解，充分利用图书馆和互联网，培养独立学习和研究的本领，为适应今后的进一步学习作准备;公共课：上课占前边的位置，认真听讲并做好笔记，积极勇敢的回答问题。对有兴趣的科目，利用图书馆互联网进行深人学习，扩大自己的知识面。体育课：积极参加体育锻炼，上课配合好老师工作做好老师要求的动作，不挂体育课学好篮球。

在课余时间多，了解自己的专业做与本专业有关的活动，努力通过英语和计算机的相关证书考试，并开始有选择地辅修其他专业的知识充实自己学习英语加大课外阅读量并以此加大词汇量，为考试英语四级打基础。英语作为一种沟通手段需要学习来熟练掌握，而沟通技巧与能力则需要通过锻炼来得到提高。计算机：加强有关专业知识方面的练习。

大三：冲刺

大四：找工作

找工作，不能再犹豫不决，大部分目标应该锁定在工作申请及成功就业上。对前三年的准备做一个总结：首先检验自己已确定的职业目标是否明确，前三年的准备是否已充分。然后，开始毕业后工作的申请积极参加招聘活动，在实践活动中检验自己的积累和准备。

最后，预习或模拟面试，积极利用学校提供的条件，了解就业指导中心提供的用人公司资料信息，强化求职技巧，进行模拟面试等训练，尽可能地做出较为充分准备的情况下进行施展演技。

I am here to give you some hints and suggestions on how to deliver a good speech, and how to win in this competition. Though I know the professors seated down here especially my professor, my coach, Ms. Li Yanshu are the right ones to tell you. Therefore, I am here offering my fair share of speech competition experience as a participant of last year's final.

Instead of going down into a detailed DOs and DON'Ts, I need to, first and foremost share with you my understanding of this competition: "21st century Lenovo Cup English Speech Competition" has always been regarded as the most privileged and challenging English Speech Competition in the academtic field nation wide. One of you, among the 15 contestants, is going to present yourself along with other top speakers around China, even some parts of Asia. Wow, just imagine how many eyes will be on you; the media coverage; the applause after your speech and the honor the competition will bring you...

If all that I have described above are the very reasons why you are here today, allow me to tell you: please stop right here. Don't go any furthur. Because I guarantee you, in the very end, you will be disapponited: no matter what kind of glory you recieve, no matter if you have won the first place or not. Because it is transitory. Year after year, the face of the first place, or the top ten will fade. By then you may ask yourself this question: "What can I get from it?" The answer I found through my own experience are:

1 The courage to present the best of you and the true colors of you in the public.

2 The friendship and communication between you and other people you will meet during the competition days.

3 The potential opportunities for your future.

As for the first point, I suggest you to read more: newspapers, news magazines and of course, your speech. Do enough exercises with your coach and always always ask what other people think about your understanding. Because they can be objective. When you are on the stage, convince the audience with you idea with full confidence and grace. Always remember, content is as important as pronunciation and intonation.

As for the second point, value the assets you will obtain through the communications with the people you meet. They share the same passion of Engish speaking with you, but hold diffrent understandings of the world. Just think about the clashes of ideas...the exciting debate and talks you will have. As for me personally, I still keep close contact with the contestants whom I met through every level of the competition, we call each other from time to time just to chat, and we help each other out when we can.

Last but not least, the opportunities hidden along the way. When we step out of the ivory tower, we can't help but ask ourselves, with all I have learned, what can i do to contribute to the community? With all the skills I have learned, what can I do to acheive my personal best? We don't need Thomas Friedman to tell us that the world is flat, we know that inside and outside China there are millions of institutions crying for internationalized talents. We need the right platform to offer what we have, and learn the things that will keep us as the eliete of the society. I am very grateful to be offered a job at Lenovo, at which I am exposed to the world and having my own voice heard. As the year of 2008 is drawing near, since Lenovo is the official world wide partner of the IOC, I am getting excited and energetic as how I was when I was preparing for the competition last year.

As for you, you can do much better than what I did, and you have the future ahead of you.

So, have faith in yourself, with confidence and grace, embrace changes and differences, you can acheieve more than you can imagine today!

In my opinion, there are four causes:

First, graduates lack experience. They spend most of their time at school studying academic subjects and lack relevant job training. Only after graduation do they realize it’s hard to find jobs.

a dream from beyond

i was sound asleep. my grandfather appeared in a dream. he asked why i had never visited him and grandma at the cemetery. he said that even my mom hadn’t visited since october 4 (grandma’s birthday). he told me that, when i was young, i had walked out into a pond and slipped under water. he had rescued me. he said grandma was supposed to be watching me, but that she had gotten sick all of a sudden and was throwing up. it was probably the fresh blackberries they had picked and eaten earlier. grandma had a bad stomach.

my parents were out on a boat in the pond. they did not know that grandpa had saved me until they got back to shore. i was in a towel and my clothes were drying on bushes. my brown and white buster brown shoes were also soaked. i was only three years old, grandpa said. my parents were angry at first, but when they saw that grandma was still feeling sick, they forgave her.
