Dear Judges and Friends,
The topic for my speech today is “Festival.” I would like to talk about my favorite festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival.
In China we have several important festivals, such as the Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival, the Dragon-boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Among them, I like Mid-Autumn festival best, especially because I live in Xiamen.
In Xiamen, when we celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival, we do not only follow the common practices such as having a big dinner party with our family, eating mooncakes, and appreciating the full moon at night, we also have one unique custom which is only practiced in Xiamen, that is “Bo Bing”.
“Bo Bing” is a very interesting game that almost all Xiamen people play during this festival. Usually family members or close friends get together around a table with a big round bowl in the middle and six dices in the bowl. We take turns to throw the dices into the bowl. We will get different prizes accroding to the different ways the dices show their upper sides. Everyone is likely to become the champion or “Zhuangyuan” for the year. There is an element of luck and equal opportunity in this game. So people usually get excited while playing. Also, the game gives very pleasant sounds. The tinkling made by the dices falling into the bowl is pleasant, people’s laughing, cheering and applauding for the big prizes they’ve won is pleasant. All this adds greatly to the joyful atmosphere of this festival. As a kid, of course I also like the material prizes I get from the game, such as a candy or a cake.
In this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, my family invited our foreign friends to come to our home to celebrate the Festival together. They have two children who are younger than me. While our parents were making Jiaozi together, we kids played “Bo Bing”. We bought quite some gifts to share with our guests as their prizes. They enjoyed the game and our get-together very much.
The literal translation of “Bo Bing” is “mooncake gambling.” But actually it is not gambling, at least our family never plays it that way. For us, it is more an occasion of happy sharing and getting-together. This is why Xiamen’s Mid-Autumn Festival has become my favorite festival in the year.
Thank you very much!

篇6:有关于庆元旦的英语演讲稿
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
Today I would like to talk about current environment situations which you
can see all over the world. While we are pursuing better ways of lives, more
problems we are also making. Sometimes we only notice a unilateral aspect of the
matter while ignoring its various functions. This kind of negligence, however,
may cause serious problems that could be devastating.
It is said that one false move may lose the game. This is proved in our
daily life obviously. As the economy is growing rapidly day after day,
manufacturers are looking for more opportunities to gain numerous profit. To
earn more money, one way is to decrease the cost of the products. They move
their factories to developing countries which can not only benefit them much
more profit than before, but also those countries welcome them since they can
help increase the countries’ GDP.
While it seems we can gain a lot from building factories to produce
products, the shortcomings of these buildings are becoming obvious. Though at
the beginning, those developing countries did gain a lot of profit. As time
passes, people living surround the factories deposit industrial waste into the
river which directly leads to the influence of human’s lives. Fish died, birds
disappeared, people moved, and we couldn’t imagine what would come next. These
industries also use lots of resources to carry on their production. Large
amounts of carbon dioxide are discharged, we all know the consequence of that,
global warming—as one of the most essential environmental problems in the world,
is becoming more and more serious currently. That the local government ignored
was that these factories damaged their environment without any punishment but
reception! They didn’t notice the negative aspect on this investment. What a
pity!
In summary, nowadays, businessmen are destroying our motherland—earth for
themselves. What should we do in this situation? Ignore them or try to take some
actions on it? I believe all of us will choose the latter, right? So just do it,
nothing is impossible.
That’s all. Thank you.

篇13:初中元旦英语演讲稿
I earnestly hope to lead a healthy and prosperous life in the future. Judging from my aptitude inclination and personality streaks, my ideal life will be that of a scientist, researching, lecturing, and writing books.
As I am from a farming family, I particularly enjoy being close to earth. If I can afford to live a pastoral life in the countryside, I will feel most blessed. As far as social life is concerned, simplicity is what I intend to pursue, so I really don't need too many friends. All these will be mere talk if I am idle now. To attain my goal, I must make a point of training my body and mind. This is a highly competitive society in which everyone is eager to come out on top. That is not only a competition of physical strength and mental power, but a marathon of patience, faith, and perseverance.
Life is not all roses, but with what I am being equipped with by the top teachers in this elite school, I surely deserve a promising prospect.

All the members in my family wished me a good luck in the new year!
篇15:元旦晚会英语演讲稿
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is always an exciting day in New Year Eve as the majority of people in
the world are in very good mood of celebrating New Year. There are numerous New
Year parties around the globe where many children are re-united with their
families, young couples are together with their newborns, grandparents are
taking their opportunities to spend some quality time with their own children as
well as grandchildren. And the list goes on and on.
Just what exactly is New Year Eve? In my own view, I think there are two
sets of meaning.
First, New Year Eve represents hope and a new start of the year. Hope is
important to mankind. The symbolic meaning encourages us to put all our bad luck
behind us as we look forward to a fresh start from the first day of the
year.
Second, New Year Eve represents bonding between mankind. This important day
grants all of us a chance to stay close to someone we love dearly. As we spend
time with them, perhaps, we ask them how they are doing lately, or we find other
ways to show someones how much we care for them.
What else do we get out of New Year Eve? Joy is the feel good factor. It
means we enjoy being with someone. And joy is something that money can not buy
in this world.
Thank you very much.
Good afternoon, dear teachers and friends!
I' m happy to make a speech here. Thank you for your coming. Now, the topic
for my speech today is “Western Festivals.” I would like to talk about
Christmas.
Christmas is originally a Christian festival, as you can see from the
formation of this word, “Christ-mas.” The first part of the word refers to Jesus
Christ, and the second part “mas” comes from the word “mass,” referring to a
main religious ceremony in some Christian churches. At first, it was celebrated
for the birth of Jesus Christ. Nowadays, although some churches still observe
this festival for its religious reason, for most people, including Chinese
people, Christmas has already become a day of secular celebrations, when people
exchange greetings and gifts. However, it is still a biggest festival in the
West. It is as important to the Westerners as the Spring Festival is to the
Chinese people.
Christmas day is on the 25th of December, and Christmas Eve is of course
the evening of the previous day, the 24th December.
Christmas holiday usually lasts for two weeks, during which most schools
have a Christmas break. Many families put the Christmas tree in their house, and
hang many decorations on the tree. Under the tree, they usually place many
Christmas presents. Giving out presents and receiving presents are what kids
like best about this festival.
On Christmas Eve, kids would put stockings at the end of their bed, wishing
the Santa Claus would come and give them presents.
As to the tradition of giving and receiving presents in Christmas, I think
it has something to do with the nativity story. In the nativity story, on the
birthday of baby Jesus, there was a bright star shining in the East. There were
three kings in the East who saw the star, and they followed the star all the way
to Bethlehem where the star stopped. They came to a manger where baby Jesus was
lying. They worshiped the little baby and gave him presents. I think this is a
beautiful story. It shows a spirit of sharing and love.
I like Christmas for the presents kids will receive and for its lovely
story.
Thank you very much!
